NeoXerxes, is Bufflehead on your radar for this thread?

SharpSpine, to be honest with you it hasn't been on my radar. Normally I choose what to examine by sheer weight of reputation. Consequently, I sometimes miss a few great products that are slightly lesser known but are otherwise considered fantastic performers. I can try to add it if you think it would be comparable to a lot of the top quality stuff that I have been testing, but please keep in mind that I have an endless list of soaps that I still need to try. Alas, it's a heavy burden Smile.

So bottom line... Do you think I should add Bufflehead to my review list? So far I've had a great deal of success with soaps that have been directly recommended, with only a couple of notable exceptions. I'm always interested exploring new product lines.

I would say that it's worth your time. It's quite a unique soap.

Thanks SharpSpine and Barrister_N_Mann! Sounds like I should add it to my ever-growing list lol.

And gentlemen, on that note, I do keep an eye out for any and all recommendations that have been listed (and will be listed) in this thread. On previous iterations of this topic, I have gotten many great recommendations that have now become some of my favorite soaps. I do pay very close attention to your favorites and suggestions Smile.

NeoXerxes, as Will said above it is a very unique soap. Until recently I only had a sample of @j-mt 's soap. I don't tend to talk much from a sample only plus I restricted my use so as not to run out. With my recently acquired tin of Fifth Season I'm confident in recommending Bufflehead to anyone. As with other soaps, the scents will be subjective but I think Justin does a nice job blending his fragrances.

The real story here is the duck fat and the unique feel that it gives the lather and the shaving experience. Add to this how the duck fat moisturizes the skin and you have a pretty stellar product with a minimal ingredient list.

I think you prefer essential oils NX, but I believe that Bufflehead uses both essential & synthetic so I'm not sure if that's a deal breaker or not. For me it is I my top 3 along with B&M and Nuàvia.

So .. Coffret means container. And the Boellis you tested runs ~$115 but the soap by itself $48. These prices are easy to verify,  meaning if you buy the Coffret, you are buying a $67 bowl. This is about 8.8oz or $5.45/oz.  I assume the refill and Coffret have identical contents.

In the scheme of luxury soaps, that's actually reasonable, in fact on the cheap end. ABC cost far more per oz. In fact, Trumpers Eucris & Spanish Leather (retail) is a lot more money coming in at over $6.50/oz.

Thanks NeoXerxes  You found a budget "luxury" soap! Wink

I recently made two cream purchases based largely on this thread--Esbjerg and Meissner Tremonia shaving paste (in three flavors). Love them both. You guys rock.

Glad you are finding this thread helpful! Messier Tremonia is a great product, but I haven't yet tried Esbjerg.
