I would caution members to take some comments in these threads with a grain of salt and healthy skepticism. Apparently, and I have proof, there is a soap war going on between two upstate New York artisans trying to discredit one or the other. I don't use either of these soaps anymore so am not biased one way or the other. Just something to contemplate when reading forward. I would hope the Mods would not delete this post.

+1 to VTMax's comment regarding taking opinions with a grain of salt and healthy skepticism. I have no knowledge of a artisan soap war though, likely also something to be skeptical about!
Think what you may of scent, too subjective a topic in my opinion, especially in light of the fact that both artisans produce many scents.  While I do enjoy the new Glissant base, I would not say that I notice any improvement in performance over the previous formulas, just ease of lathering. I still include both B&M and CRSW among my favorite artisan soaps.  I find both, when lathered well, to perform beautifully, nay, even perfectly.

Soap wars? What next?  Frankly the mental image I have of soap artisans circling each other in the Thunderdome (2 soapers enter one soaper leaves) trying to rub soap in each others' eyes to be somewhat comical.  Do soap makers sling mud at each other?  I think that straight razor maker wars would be far more entertaining.

I assume these wars transpire on the various (anti) social media platforms - life is too short to waste time on the drama, give me excellent products and excellent service.

It is frankly ridiculous to assume that I would be involved in any such "soap war". The idea is petty and pointless to me. My reviews are subjective and my opinion only, true, but that opinion isn't laden with personal drama on soaps, which is an utterly stupid idea to me. I will offer my honest opinion always - this is the entire point of this review series.

NeoXerxes , for what its worth, I find your reviews, comments and input to be articulate, intelligent, informative and very approachable.  IMO you represent the essence of what DFS is about.  I completely agree with your views re drama.  It seems that the social media platforms encourage drama and related bad behaviour.  Mind-mouth/typing finger filters seem to become disabled. We can choose to not participate.   I'd still like to see straight razor makers in the Thunderdome however

I hadn't looked at this thread for a couple of days and it has grown significantly and is becoming a very useful resource.  It would likely be worthwhile, judging from some of the posts on this thread, to start a thread devoted to the very best budget soaps/creams where money is the object or at least one of the objects - performance plus economy.  

I'm looking forward to the next instalment in your review series.

NeoXerxes I am not sure if you've already reviewed Haslinger soaps or not. If not, you should try them out. I have been using Haslinger Ringelblumen for the past week as part of a month long commitment to a specific soap. I have really been enjoying the experience. No absolutely fantastic scents in my opinion, but excellent performance and pleasant scents. Give them a try, I'd highly recommend them to anyone.
