I love my Vector, it was the first Blackland razor I bought but am a bit disappointed that the Schick blades that I have do not fit and can't help but feel like if there were some adjustments made to the mounting system it might help but overall these Schick blades seem to be at fault here but when they fit they are pretty darn great.

The Vector is a razor I can pickup and toss in a Feather or Kai blade and have a great shave without a hassle. It's very dependable and reliable when you know you need a good shave without issue. Nimble, and efficient.
Aside from the above mentioned issue I say the only other downside is that the prices, variety of blades and availability of Feather or Kai blades aren't great or anywhere near as great as DE blades but that is what the Blackbird is for.

This is a mystery I’m surprised we haven’t figured out. My prolines fit perfectly. I have to imagine it’s the prolines which changed at some point. I do love feathers in the vector. Little more blade feel but it gets me to a way longer lasting 2 pass bbs than the prolines.

I honestly just think its manufacturing variations more than anything and haven't heard anything about there being older and newer batch variations but I hope not.
It can be resolved by carefully modifying each blade by slightly elongating the holes on each blade but its a bit of an effort. I don't expect people to crack out the dremel everytime they shave or want to change a blade. LoL

Whilst I don't expect Shane to change the entire design for a few odd blades it would have been cool if it was a non issue to start with.

Hi all,
I bought aTi vector of bst a few months ago. In general i love the razor - no other razor feels quite like a scalpel. That being said, I’m still experimenting with the angle. I still have my fair share of bad shaves with it. It just seems hard to dial in for me.

Recently, i noticed how the blade is only a few degrees off the angle of the top of the head. The design adds almost no cap above the blade.. I also recalled reading somewhere that people really rode the cap on this one. I tried it the other day and my shave was improved. I then tried again tonight and had a bit more irritation than I’m used to from many of my DE razors.

February I’ve committed to this razor to improve my game with it. Any suggestions or pointers people find help with it?

Thanks!

I think you’re already doing the right things. The Vector works nicely with a variety of angles so keep experimenting to see what works for you on the different surfaces of your face. Aside from that, just using the razor for many days in a row will cause your shaves to improve automatically so I think that’s also wise. Just keep going and check in as your February goes.

If you have not already considered blades, you may want to investigate how different blades affect the Vector experience. The AC format is unique in that different blades can make it big difference.

I agree with the above. Try a new blade. I mostly use the Feather ProGuard blades and get a great 3 pass shave using that blade and riding the cap. Schick Proline blades and Feather Professional (the unguarded ones) ultimately gave me a similar shave but with more irritation and nicks than when I was using the guarded blade.

Thank you for the suggestion - I did get a sampler pack from tryablade prior to going dark. I tried the Feather SoftGuard yesterday and had the tuggiest of shaves! Back to the feather professional - no proGuards in the pack unfortunately but I’ll try some Kai’s next.

I’m excited for this month - this razor is worth sticking with and learning. I’m also using only Stirling to maintain consistency there as well.

Thanks for the suggestions everybody!

Tugging is what I get with different AC blades. One of the Kai blades seemed to not tug as much, not sure the exact blade might have been the Captain Sharpblade.
