The Vector, SE RAD Killer

Well, I just joined the Vector club. Hope to have it in hand later this week!

Well then, I think I'm in some pretty good company.  I also bought a vector this week.  Through the kindness of two fine friends, I've already test driven both models - titanium and stainless.  My overriding conclusion:  They are both astoundingly superb razors.  My secondary conclusion:  The tradeoffs are pretty much as described by Shane in this article (which was brought to my attention by MaineYooper - thank you Eric).  Long story short:  I went with the stainless, which I think is somewhat better for me, but I am open to the possibility of titanium later.

My new pack of Proline blades that just came don't fit my Vector unfortunately. The last pack fit fine. Is there any option to make them workable? I'd hate to try to Dremel them, but I don't use Artist Club straights and have no other AC safety razors, so I have no real use for them.

Have you compared the new prolines to the old ones to see what's different?

Unfortunately, Schicks use a slightly different hole pattern so we no longer consider them to be Vector-compatible. Sometimes they fit okay, but often they do not. You could certainly Dremel them out. Or, if you're really committed to these blades, you could lightly sand the outside surface of the top cap blade pins to make them a few tenths of a mm narrower. The downside to this is that other blades wouldn't have perfect lateral alignment, but that's not a big deal.

Very disappointing to hear about the Schick Proline as it is far and away my favorite. Haven't really liked any of the Feather or Kai I've tried at all.

Schick Proline I think you meant. ProGuard is a Feather product

They usually work, but not always. If one is committed to the Schicks, you can also just take a fine file or a small bit of sandpaper and bring down the outside of the blade posts by a fraction of a mm to get them to fit.
