The Vector, SE RAD Killer

Just used my newly acquired Vector OC on my head and face with about a weeks worth of growth. Using Feather Pro Super that already had a couple uses, the Vector is the greatest head shaver I’ve ever used. I completely understand why Ruds said it was also his favorite for head shaving.

The Vector shaves closer and smoother than my 1.55 WR2. The WR2 wins on my face but nothing I’ve used even comes close for head shaving. I’m still in awe of how good the Vector shaves and how the OC plate refused to clog but just kept removing hair.

I look forward to trying the SB plate with a Schick Proline and seeing how it compares.

Thank you! I'm not a head shaver myself, but we get a lot of guys who use the Vector for their heads and it seems to me that the geometry is particularly well suited for that task. Wish I could say that was the plan from the start.

Haha, well it never hurts to knock it out of the park in multiple categories.

I don’t want to downplay the face shave either. Still achieved BBS in 2.5 passes and was easily able to cruise control the Vector my first time using it.

Considering my difficulty in achieving perfect head shaves with any other razor and how easily the Vector achieved BBS on my face, it’s now the only travel razor I’ll use since it does both things so well.

Also, the flat threaded post was genius. Reminds me of the threaded stems on ball valves so you can remove the handle but still operate them with a wrench. Completely different application but that’s just what came to mind, haha.

I can’t wait to try the Vector Ti when it’s released!

What are people's opinions on this razor as far as mild/medium/aggressive? Is that all based on the blade? I went down the single edge road, and I didnt get much further than a Razorock Hawk and a Colonial General with some Feather Pro and Feather Supers. I never enjoyed a shave with an SE the way I did with a DE, although I liked them fine. I ended up getting rid of both of those razors.

I find the vector SB and general V2 to shave nearly identical.

Subjective, of course, but I rate it at a 5/10 using Feather Pros. I consider Pros to be the standard blade so I built the geometry around that. Then you can dial it up or down with blade choice which gives it a total range of probably like 3-7/10.

If you didn’t like the other razors because of blade then the Vector probably won’t change that. If you didn’t like it for another reason then the Vector will certainly offer you a different experience. And, of course, you can try it for a month to see if it’s a better fit for you.

Also worth noting that some people dislike AC blades until they try the Prolines. So since you’ve stuck with the Feathers so far it could just be those blades and not the platform. Plus, while I don’t know for sure, I think the Pro and Pro Super may be the same blade with slightly different widths. If true, that would mean that you’ve basically only tried one blade, insofar as the cutting edge goes.

What other blades are there? I’ve seen a Schick? I thought there were only three or four blades of this type?

Deus Vult , I am curious to read of your experiences comparing the OC to SB for face shaves.  In the past, I have been disappointed in the open combs, as I dislike the face feel of the teeth. When Karve introduced their open comb plates, I was over the moon as the safety bar version has been The Razor for over 2 years. But the teeth felt so sharp, making the shave experience less enjoyable.  I recently got a Vector, and it will most likely become The One, and I am very interested in the open comb (for who knows what reason!).  Thanks!
