I know this has already been beaten to death, but I figured I'd add my comments to this thread. To me that half DE blade Rocnel does not qualify as a true single edge razor. The biggest difference between a DE and SE is the blade itself. Those thin little ribbons of steel used to make DE blades offer quite a different shaving experience than a rigid SE blade as we all know. Merely snapping one in half and calling it a single edge is gimmicky. I'm not trying to knock anyone that uses one and gets great shaves from it. That's awesome and I'm glad for people that do enjoy it. I've heard rumors of Rocnel making a modern SE that takes GEM style blades and I'm patiently waiting for that one to drop.

I'm waiting for ANYONE to make a modern GEM blade razor. Especially an open comb.

Everyready 1912
Gem 1924
Gem push button
Schick J1
Schick I2
& the newly arrived Supply 3 plate version.

The Gem 1924 is too aggressive for me, but the others are great.

I'm game!

Let's see:
Star Wedge
Rolls
Wilkinson Empire
GEM 1912, 1914, 1924, MMOC, MMCC, G-Bar, Pushbutton, & FeatherWeight
EveryReady 1912
Schick E2, E3, E4, G1, G8, I1, I2, J1, J2, K2, L1, L2, M1, M2, M3, & N2. I prefer the E2 and I1 out of the Schick Injectors(I know, VERY different shaves!)
Pal Inject-O-Matic
Gillette Trac II Injector
AlumiGoose V2
ATT SE1
Supply Provision CO. The Single Edge

I'm probably forgetting some. I have so many razors, I don't know where they're all hiding.

Injector blade stash 6 months ago(more now. Imagine that!):

I prefer the various vintage/NOS injector blades.

I prefer the Gem Stainless PTFE blades in the Gem and EverReady SE's.

I've only tried the Feather AC ProGuard, Pro, & Pro Super in the ATT SE1 and AlumiGoose V2. I prefer the Pro Super out of those blades, so far.

Awesome collection of vintage blades--best I've seen! The only ones I've used are the Chicks on the lower left. Amazing what you've done...

Thanks! I'm not sure I want to get everything together now after another 6 months of hoarding. Blush

I love the Chicks, I'm fixing to get some twins here soon.

I'd say technically it is an SE since it does only have one shaving edge. I agree in that it does not shave like a typical SE razor since it has the half DE blade. It still shaves well and is well made so I like it

Well, to me, the advantage (the part that matters) of the SE is the blade, not the fact that it only has one shaving edge. In fact, the razor in question also takes away one of the pros of the DE blade as well, by snapping it in half. Now you have a double edge blade that you can only use one edge of. Seems counter-intuitive. But hey, as long as you like it and it provides good shaves is all that matters in the end. I do think it is neat how the blade is held in the head of the razor. No need to unscrew anything or open it up, just pop it in and go. By all accounts, it seems well made and you can't argue with the price either.

I agree about the advantage of SE blades. More rigid, which to me provides a closer shave
