Are SE razors objectively better? For me they are, and I see no advantage for DE, but I’m wondering is the thickness of the SE blade just factually better for shaving?

I think they are JMax. The blade simply doesn't want to flex the way a DE blade does. I would never "push" a DE blade the way I do a SE blade. They simply won't bite when they lose efficiency, and a DE blade will flex and draw blood.
