Yeah I suppose I'm going down the rabbit hole. I wish I'd have done this a lot sooner because it seems people don't want to turn loose of these injectors and they are pricey IMO. We will see how it goes.
As a side note I'm trying to salvage my Hawk and Colonial general by buying a couple of Schick Proline blades in an effort to smooth them out. That Feather Pro is just nowhere near a Gem blade as far as smoothness to me. Someone else might think differently but man that Gem blade is smooooth.

I hear ya. I had a Colonial General on loan from a generous fellow forum member that I used with the Feather Pros and I came to the same conclusion. Tuggy and not very smooth at all no matter what I tried to do with my lathers. I also find the GEMs to be buttery smooth in comparison. To be fair though, that was the only blade I tried in the General. I may have had better results with a different one for sure.

Today I used one of my Valet AutoStrops with a Feather Blade. Nice, comfortable shave but had to fall back on yesterday's GEM to touch up the really hard to get areas. In injectors, I find the Schick "G" series hits the sweet spot. The later ones were simply too inefficient and the "E" nice but maybe just a little too unfriendly.
In SEs in general, so far I have not found anything better than my 1912s and Damaskenes. The AC blade razors are nice but not as nice. The injectors are nice but not as nice. The Valets are nice but not as nice. And the wedge blades like the Rolls are nice but not as nice. (Maybe I need to send some of the Rolls blades out for a professional stropping)

To be vintage it must be older than me!
The last razor I bought was the next to last razor I will ever buy!

The Rolls is one of the most different shaving experiences I've ever had. No matter how I tried to get a close feeling shave during the shave, I couldn't. But 15 minutes later my face was baby bottom smooth.
Jar, you can definitely maintain the Rolls blade yourself. Go to TOST (The Other Safety Too) and do a search for the Scary Sharp Method. Maybe google will also turn it up. It won't cost a lot (relatively) to get the materials required and there's no maintenance of the "stones".

Brian. Lover of SE razors.

Can I ask where you ordered the Schick prolines from?

I went to tryablade.com and ordered two Proline blades to give them a whirl. It seems like many folks discuss how nice they are so I figured I would give them a try in my Colonial General and my Hawk before I sold them.
I went to that site in Japan and ordered 3 boxes. Probably overkill for not trying them but with shipping might as well make it worth it.
I recently fell in love with a GEM shave and dig the Hawk but the 1st pass is awful with the Feathers. Allot of pulling compared to other blades.
