Anyone know of any soaps and/or aftershaves that have a scent similar to the smell of an old book? The dusty pages, the leather binding, the history trapped between the pages. I love it, brings me to a happy place. Any help would be great

I've heard someone describe Tabula Rasa Steampunk to have this sort of scent. Was it Freddy maybe? I sniffed it one time but I can't recall what the scent was like. I happen to like that smell too so I'm interested to see what you come up with.

Chiseled Face Sherlock is somewhat reminiscent of that old library/ book smell along with some light tobacco. It's a great performer as well. I highly recommend this soap.

I don't think Steampunk is the one you're looking for - its very nice and I recommend it but I don't think it smells old bookish. I can recommend L&L Grooming's Cuir et Epices bison tallow soap. Its not only an incredible performer but the leather and spices scent is probably as close to old leather bound books as I've smelled. My dad collected old books and our house growing up was stuffed with bookshelves. Good luck

It was I, yours truly. Unfortunately, TSN has deleted all reviews, so I can't reference it.

Primo, why would they delete reviews of Tabula Rasa Steampunk as the first tub I got was a TSN exclusive with their logo on the jar?  Confused2  Have they eliminated reviews of everything?  It has been a while since I have perused that site.

I agree with Marko that I wouldn't associate Steampunk with an old book/library smell (a scent I like).

All reviews have been deleted. You'll have to ask them. My opinion was not solicited. I do stand by original assessment of the scent, which BTW, didn't say: "Smells like an old book", but said something to the effect " The scent reminds me of walking into an old bookstore" Similar, I guess, but not exactly the same.  Big Grin
Indeed, I have just erased my TSN bookmark. I might visit it again in the future, but I am fed up with the anger over there. Having a polite discussion is almost the exception these days.

Here are some of my comments on Barrister and Mann’s Beaudelaire:
https://damnfineshave.com/thread-sotd-21...4#pid85574

There’s probably a lot more going on with Beaudelaire than just “old books,” but that is just one thing the scent reminds me of.
