Thanks Mark. Did you keep your 2019? If so, what are your thoughts on it?

You know me I used it for awhile then moved on to my next new razor.  Someone messaged me that they really wanted one so I sold it.  It truly was an efficient razor but much past 5 or 6  and you needed to be very focused or it would definitely let you know.

LOOT Great write up and pictures. That’s one big boy prototype which kinda reminds me of the size differences between the a Merkur Vision and Futur. I’d suspect that if this new/upcoming prototype was converted to Titanium (as many are suggesting) it would weigh in a much more manageable 120 gm range and yield an even smoother shave - now THAT would be even more interesting. Pricing would be a whole other issue.

Thanks for the kind words AJ. I bought an NOS Vision because the look appeals to me. I pulled it out and it is more akin to a microphone than a razor. I put it right back in the case and it still sits on a shelf 18 months or so later. Even I draw the line on size somewhere. Smile

Third shave and last installment of updates until there is an announcement of production.

Today I loaded a second use Feather….using the same preshave and soap base as two prior shaves.  I turned is down to 2.  The Sailor felt like a WR2 1.25 SB, just smoother.  Second pass blade feel was there but it decreased for the ATG.  I’m super impressed with this razor.  The dome height increase made a big difference in the feel of these two razors, for the better.  Even with a head like a rottweiler, it was no issue under the nose.

The knurling on the 2019 is better from a functionality standpoint is superior.  I prefer the 2021 aesthetically.  I like the mirror finish on the 2019 better.  The 2019 has very sharp edges on the cap.  They are not an issue except when whipping down as they are prone to catch.  I do prefer the muted edges on the 2021.  BTW…2021 model confuses me on name. The 2019 was launched on Novemberish 2019 so…2019 makes sense.  6 months later I get a 2021?  What happened to 2020?  Murat said the 2021 production version would likely be in June 2020 so it wasn’t anticipated launch date.  The minor things I let perplex me….

Hopefully, I can get Murat to read the last week or so of this thread.  So, Murat…if you do see this…please make this exact razor in Titanium.  Do a limited run of 25…maybe 50.  I am certain it would be a unicorn to a lot of guys.  I wouldn’t change anything in the design of the prototype…just material.  I'll buy a production SS in mirror polish...but a Ti would have me selling a fistful of very high end razors.

Yep, I’m in for this one regardless of metal but would really love it in titanium! I haven’t heard a peep out of Murat for several days now. Hope he may see this thread.

Does anyone know if the sale is going thru the same US distribution? If it is may want to post these comments on the forum he controls to let it be seen.

Most likely these will go through Phil at Bullgoose again. He is only on the Shave Nook.

A quick search shows Murat rocnel has a membership her at DFS. Hopefully, I get get him here to lurk and read our collective thoughts on the Sailor prototype beginning with post #146. Although, I encourage you to read the entire thread.

I'll also follow up with Murat on IG as well while I have his ear.

He is replying my posts in Turkish forums, looks like he does not have interest Ti for now.
But I wrote him the members have questions or requests in DFS. He will probably be here.
