Thanks to BPman for the link to Refined Shave. That is one fantastic compilation of data on that site, which I had no idea existed. Some of the data does not correlate to my personal experiences, but it appears to be a pretty scientific study. By triangulating my experience with the data provided, it gives me a better idea of which blades may or may not work for me.

I agree with you. If anything, it shows the narrow band of correlation between sharpness & smoothness. People often confuse the two as many new blade reviews on forums are made by new wet shavers who haven't "honed" their prep method & technique well. Good prep/technique, the right razor for your face and a good soap/cream "pave the road" for a top shelf blade to work as designed.
