I managed to locally source the shorter version of this brush this weekend. Being impatient, I paid more than jankdc's asking price... but 2 shaves in and I can tell this is going to be in my daily rotation after she's broken in.

I'm loving the feel of the aluminum handle. Thinking of picking up another one and maybe swapping out the boar for a badger

I'm curious. Where did you get one locally? Was it used?

any chance you will have the 28mm badger in any other handles than the ivory color?

I got these brushes at a barber shop in the Italian district in my city. The only 2 he had left. Both were supposed to be brand new and came in their clear boxes... but I have a feeling one of them could have been slightly used or maybe "demoed"? I plan on replacing that knot with a badger anyway.

I'm seeing if I can do a ceramic in 28mm in the fall. I'm not able to get any other resin handles with the larger know at this time.

You should be able to get a good deal in Italy. I think a badger with that large handle is a great idea.

I have the black style with a smaller knot in best badger and the 27.5 in synthetic. I don't have any plans with getting it in silvertip (It doesn't make sense for me to compete with Joe directly). I have not seen or compared the rr ivory version, but the specs that I have are all the same, however, someone on a different site that has  both seems to think that the Zenith version is a higher grade of hair and is softer. Again, I don't have both, so I don't know for sure.

i did find the post you are speaking of. now im really curious but i realy dont need another ivory one lol though i really would love to directly compare them. i wonder if its just knot variance from batch to batch. his normal price is 70$ so basically the same as your normal price as well. he was out of the black which is why i wondered if you had it in stock.

I've had a chance to use the Zenith synthetic a few times and like the brush. The Zenith handles are great, it's got a relatively big knot (just under 28mm) and performed well. At the end of the day, I prefer my Edwin Jagger, as I have found it's the best synthetic for me (I'm using badger most of the time). The biggest difference I noticed is that the Zenith has more backbone, and a slight glue bump. This backbone was great with soaps, but in the same way that I prefer Shavemacs regular silver tip to D01, the EJ has just a bit softer feel.

I would definitely recommend giving this brush a shot, especially if you like the idea of a larger synthetic brush with backbone. I am likely going to keep it as a travel brush.

Here is a picture of the Zenith compared to the EJ XL (black / left) and EJ L (white / right) ... It seems to fall between the two size wise.
