Just had my first SE shave with a General V2 this morning. The design looked amazing and the reviews of V1 helped me take the leap.

The two pass shave I got this morning was fantastic! While I don’t fully have a strong grasp on maintaining the right angle for SE, I found I had very little irritation. I’m excited to shave more with the razor and provide a more detailed review. It did feel quite smooth.

Great shave on two days growth this morning. Some observations from my second shave using feather pro blade:
- the face feel/smoothness on this razor is fantastic. I also find ZERO tugging or pulling which was minor with DE (Blackbird SB is my go to). Not sure whether to attribute this to SE blades or the razor. Smoother than BB and Rs-10 overall.
- efficiency is great. I think it cleans up more than my BB on two passes. Haven’t tried feather pro super yet.
- despite my novice ability at wielding SE razors, there’s little to no irritation in my trouble spots and my face feels less “tight” or “scraped” (best I can describe it) than when I use DE. Again, not sure whether to attribute this to SE blades or the razor. For reference, my beard is thicker and coarse.

Overall, glad I purchased. I was hesitant because of the price tag, but am excited to keep shaving with it.

Would love to hear others thoughts on their time with the razor.

For those looking for something different for their General razors, Colonial will be releasing this handle in the near future... 93mm long though...

I'm pretty new to wet shaving but my curiosity and the reviews of this razor convinced me to order one. I think this may be the start of something bad for my bank account. Currently only have a Rockwell 6S.

I was in your position a year ago. Let me save you some dollars and say this is a fantastic razor. Learning the right angle for SE has taken some adjustment on my part, but the shaves with the General V2 have been amazing. Silky smooth but with the efficiency of a plate 8 on the rockwell (which is what I’ve been searching for).

I have not used my Blackbird SB in nearly 2 weeks but will likely go back and compare soon. Delete links to shave forums, you’ll save a ton of $$ that way Tongue

There was...the General in aluminum. It launched at about $40. Sadly, they don't make it anymore.

Razorock Hawk is like $25-30. Best SE I've used.

What a shave I had this morning!

After 8 shaves with a Feather Pro over the last two weeks, I feel as though I have a good grasp on using this razor. The shaves have been great and very efficient, often exceeding my Blackbird for length of time the shave holds up. I also have found that smoothness that I felt initially to be present. I really love this razor. Someone described it as the Rockwell 6S but at a plate 8 and I must agree! There’s the smoothness of a plate 3 but the efficiency is much higher than the 6 plate.

I loaded the General V2 up with a Schick Proline and could not believe how smooth the shave was. The Feather Pro gave me no issues, sometimes it would leave a little irritation on my lower neck and I think this is due to user error, but the Schick took the smoothness up a notch. I think if I was to shave daily rather than every 48h the Schick would be my blade. After 12 hours on the first shave with the blade, I do have some growth in areas, but much of my face is still BBS. Eventually I will try some Feather Pro Supers just to see what they’re like.

If you’re on the fence about this razor, pick one up! It really is amazing. The head is so nimble even compared to some of my DEs. It’s probably the best razor as far as getting right up against my nose because of the size of the head.

Disclaimer: I have not used other SEs to compare this to.
