The Filament Fakelite Series Open Comb Slant | 3-Piece | Classic Crystal Clear

BOOM! Guess who's back? (kinda)

Fans of our Bakelite Open Comb Slants are going to find our new Fakelite Series a more than a little familiar for sure!

Meet the Filament

The first in our latest series! These babies are our latest take on the Original FASAN Slant, but rather than muck around with bakelite, we decided to take another route instead, a route of endless possibilities! Sadly, what we could do with bakelite was very limited, so ABS Plastic it was once again and for anyone that owns our current Double Slant OC Monster Series, you know how awesome it is!

Total Transparency

This time we went clear, crystal clear, a tip of the hat to the vintage "FASAN Ghost"! A prized version of the FASAN Twist! We even made sure to keep the fixings brass so that they really pop! Truth be told, The Filament looks like some other worldly tech that just stepped out of a scifi novel! Maybe something from the Fortress of Solitude?

"So Doug, how is this different than the Double Slant?", I hear you ask. Great question so let's dig into some history.

The FASAN Twist Razor

The Filament open comb/slant design is inspired by one of my favorite vintage razors of all time, The FASAN Twist! I absolutely LOVE that razor but it's hard to find and can be expensive to pick up when you do find one, and if you are not familiar with Bakelite, who wants to take a gamble at the current antique razor price?

So once again, we have gone back and plucked a rare gem from history in an effort to offer it at a fair and reasonable price, so that the newb and old dog collector alike can give this bad boy a go!

Keeping The Standards

We made sure the post was the standard 1032 thread so that handles can be mixed and matched with most of your other favorite components! Though I do recommend you hang with the whole package before you switch it up!

Unlike it's metal cousin, a Fakelite Razor requires slight pressure, but very, very slight. As for the presumed learning curve, you should have it mastered by the end of a 3 pass shave! A slant need not be about weight, but finesse and angle.

Hi.
Got one new yesterday, and have a question if you don't mind.
Question:
Even with the handle tightened, the cap isn't touching the blade flush everywhere.
Should I tighten even more?
I'm afraid of breaking the handle if I try to tighten more.

Sorry for my poor english, by the way, french is my first language.

Thanks in advance!
François

"Filament", eh? Could it be that it's (mostly) 3D printed?
It was the first thing I thought of because the consumable for 3D printers is called "filament", and you can get it in transparent ABS.

Hi John.
Maybe, I didn't think of that.
Hope CaD314 will answer my question.

Hey bud!
Sounds like you don't have it screwed down enough! Feel free to send me a video of what you are doing and if need be I can guide you! Also, your English is GREAT!

No sir, it's not 3d printed. We have never offered 3d printed anything. These are molded into existence. Lordy, I can't imagine how time consuming it would be to print all these razors. The name for us was more on the Astronomical side of things, as in Galaxy Filaments! Great question!

Ah. I know what you mean but, ironically, one popular 3D printing filament colour is called "Galaxy Silver".
Just like this personalized handle that my son printed for me, as one of his first projects:
