After waiting very impatiently all week, my brush just arrived. It is a 3 band Silver Tip 28mm with a black handle. It's bigger and heavier than I was expecting. The knot is very dense and very soft. I have never used a Badger before and after reading Thater's directions I will apparently be breaking some of the rules. It's likely that the water will be hotter than 50 degrees and it is for certain I will be face lathering and swirling. Wish me luck. I'd have posted pictures but I am not able to presently. You guys have all seen what this brush looks like though.
Congratulations! Using a Thäter brush is like lathering with a cloud… (OK, so I’ve never actually lathered with a cloud, but this is probably the closest thing.)
Also: Some rules are meant to be broken. Enjoy your brush to the fullest!

Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”

I had a nice shave with it. I used Cologne Russe and my Timeless. The brush had no funky smell. In fact it smelled kinda sweet. Like it was cleaned already. The knot is very dense which was a little different than I'm used to. It holds lots of water but the lather seems to stay on the tips. Very soft. I'm not sure it will be my daily but it was definitely very enjoyable.

These were once used in the families Insurance Office to hold rubber stamps. They just sat in boxes when my Dad sold the business until I found them a few months ago. I thought about painting them and may still do so but for now they are just the old beat up junk that they ustawas.
To be vintage it must be older than me!

I used it for the second time tonight and I think I may change my mind about it being my daily. All this time I have been buying these cheap ( price wise) synthetics, which all work very well, and never thinking I needed a badger ( I tried boar and didn't care for them). Now I have a nice badger and it's just a heck of a lot less work than the synthetics, it performs better and feels very nice on my face.
For my first badger I think I made an excellent choice. :-)
