You've got me curious to read the thread in question.

People say things in forums they would never dream of saying in person. It is just very impersonal to sit behind a keyboard and respond to written words. Similar to driving - people are actually in those other cars, yet we view them as objects.

gnocchi you're already reading the thread in question that you want to read. It was an example of what could happen (using me as the example), nothing more. This is how rumors and "stuff" starts.

Standard needs go back and declare it fiction to protect the reputation that I've gone out of my way to cultivate. I thought he would have caught that, but I guess not. He needs to go back and either declare it fiction or change the name... after how many people read it? Damage has already been done. You're an example of the loss of my reputation because you thought it had a basis in reality. But it doesn't. Or a moderator needs to get involved since it's been posted on this site. But it needs to get changed.

FWIW, I took what Standard posted as hypothetical. I guess he didn't need to use an actual soap maker's name, but he did. He could've just said "Vendor A" or something.

No, actually, I'm talking about the original post, believe it or not:

I won't go into details, but I ventured a little out of my comfort zone and posted what I thought was a "flame retardant" type of post on another forum in a heated thread. I guess it was my fault for sticking my nose where it wasn't wanted. It was met with hostility which I wasn't prepared for.
I'm thankful all of us here can have civilized conversations.

Yeah, there are so many self proclaimed experts and keyboard commandos out there, it is indeed nice to have a place like DFS .
