I had fun putting these 2 brushes through some shaves. Cool concept whereby the user can control loft and the lathering loading experience. I used creams [high loft] and soft soaps [mid loft] with a few hard soaps [low loft]. All three have unique loading and lathering feel. The badger knot was solid. Of course it is not a DG or Allen Long level knot. So don't expect that quality, but if being able to change loft while say traveling is important - this will work.

The synthetic knot was the surprise of the trials. Nice flow through and face feel. A little springy but certainly will be liked by many.

Thanks for the opportunity to try Danny 'Magnolia' Law.[Image: 93d73f81de5d7499c6fff2abf10ed28a.jpg][Image: 5688adfcb2995003022186b5701908ff.jpg]

Tatara/Semogue adjustable/changeable brush - DFS pass-around. Interesting concept for sure.
First use with the badger knot. Setting three is too much splaying for me, but on 2 is is great. I feared that on the lowest setting 1, it would be too pointy, but it was not.
Tomorrow with the synthetic....

Today I used the synthetic knot of the Tatara Muramasa changeable/adjustable brush. I did not like it at all. I use it at 3 and a bit towards the 2 setting.

The fibers are quite springy and it has also a distinctive scritch, I never have observed this in any other of my synthetic brushes.

As it is known here, I am not a big fan of synthetics, and compare them always to the two I do really like: a Muehle STF 25 mm knot in one of my handles and the Wald A1. This synthetic is not even close to the two.

The badger knot was the much better one of the two, and would be my personal choice.

The principle of a brush that offers a variety of knot options and also the idea of adjusting the loft to one the user likes is very new and also unique. If I were in the situation to look for such a brush type, this would be my choice. One great thing of the system is that it holds heat very well.

Thank you to everybody that has participated in the passaround. Trying to retain this brush in my collection unless Coco's vet bills get out of hand. Am quite fond of the innovative design and also favour the synthetic knot.
