Tallow + Steel

Hi Ryan.  I just purchased through a B/S/T here (sorry, it was easier than doing a cross Canada/U.S.A. border purchase ) a new tub of T+S Classic Shaving Soap and matching aftershave.  After reading the comments here I have been wanting to try your products and this was the perfect opportunity.  Marko comparison of the aftershave to B&Ms Kyovu was just icing on the cake.  I am having the delivery delayed for travel reasons but will certainly post my thoughts once I give them a go.

I always wondered how I would feel the first time a Tallow + Steel product ended up on the B/S/T  haha

I'm happy you will get to try them. It was probably a smart move since Canada's postal service may strike next week.

Ryan, I wouldn't sweat it - I've seen every soap made in the BST at one time or another. There's an MDC on there right now. Sometimes its a case of something not working for the person, the scent or they just have too many soaps. I would have no idea what thats like :roll eyes:
There's also people who are very generous and wish to share the good stuff with others

Andrew is happy with the performance, but the scent just wasn't for him. Scent is so subjective, and we created ours knowing that not everyone will love every scent. He is planning on ordering another so hopefully he will pick one that agrees more with him.

I just placed an order for Dark and Classic to beat the postal strike. At least that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Can't wait to sample these other two scents.

It is from Andrew that I purchased the shaving soap and aftershave.  It was actually serendipity because, of the scents you have listed on your site, Classic is the one that most appealed and that is what Andrew was selling.  After reading thoughts of T+S from folks here at DFS, I have a hunch I am really going to like it and if I do then there will be one more person to spread the word.

Admittedly, with artisans such as Will of Barrister and Mann, Eric of Dapper Dragon, Rod of Stirling Soap Co., yourself, and others, for most of us we already have a good idea that the properties of the product will be superb.  You artisans are right up there with the big boys who have been around for 100+ years and in many instances supersede them.  Therefore, it comes down to scent for many of us and that tends to be a crapshoot with today's web based shopping.  It would be great if we could sniff before purchase.  It's too bad it isn't possible to include a scratch & sniff card or the like with all of an artisan's scents so we could make more informed decisions.  A straight rose or grapefruit gives us an idea of what to expect, the intriguing and complex scents coming out now, not so much.  In the end, I thought enough of T+S based on comments here to give it a try.

Now I have to worry about Customs getting the nice scent and decide they want to keep them, lol.....

Ryan, I used Grog soap and aftershave today - performance again was really good and the scent is great. With the aftershave I'm not sure whats there on initial application that is similar to the Dark but it dries down to a really nice and unique scent that I like a lot - also that awesome face feel is there. I shave 8+ hours ago and it still feels smooth and I can still smell a light fragrance. Really good aftershave. I lathered the soap with a Semogue Boar (#2000) and it did a superb job whipping up a thick rich lather in a very short period of time - good for the 4 pass shave with lather to spare. I'm pretty happy with this product, nice job. I'm thinking that fellow who BST'd your soap would likely enjoy the Classic scent - I haven't got that in soap but do have the aftershave and I'd call it the Tallow & Steel rif on barbershop scent. You know, classic

I'm glad to hear you like the Aftershave Splash - we spent a lot of time on it to get it right.

Classic is indeed sort of a barbershop type scent - with some added spice! Glad you like it.
