It’s my Daughter’s 8th Birthday today and I decided to make her a makeup brush with a little 22mm synthetic knot. And yes, 8 year old girls are all about messing with makeup these days... they have no idea what they’re doing and usually look like angry little clowns.

This casting was one that Eric sent me and again it has some beautiful depth that is difficult to capture with my iPhone camera. I have no doubt my Daughter will love these colors.

I did screw up just a little and turned the groove too close to the bottom of the knot socket. As a result you can see a clear ring where the wall depth is pretty thin. I don’t think my Daughter will care though... hey, Dad’s mess up sometimes!

The polish came out very glassy on this one.

Razor: Wolfman WR1 (.80 gap)
Brush: Trotter Handcrafts  - "Cities From Space"
Soap: Murphy & McNeil - "Pisgah" (Bear Tallow)
Aftershave: Fine - Fresh Vetiver
Blade: Wizamet

The Wolfman landed yesterday and wow, this was an amazing shave. The .80 gap was super smooth and perfectly efficient. Prior to ordering, I was pretty unsure which gap to go with. I like aggressive razors, but I also wanted something that wasn't overly aggressive and I could use a few days in a row. I went with my gut and picked the .80. Happy I did! It feels perfect for my face. Yes, there is blade feel as expected, but the good kind that just helps keep the correct angle and let you know how much you can get away with. Very happy with this purchase.

I recently picked up the .72 and .95 Razorock Lupo's (supposed Wolfman WR1 clone) and will spend more time comparing them all side by side. Initial quick impression is, the .80 gap does fall right near the middle in terms of aggression compared to the 2 Lupo's. The face feel was a bit different so the Lupo's are not a straight-up clone. I think the Wolfman may have been a smoother ride, but I'll need more testing to fully confirm.

The "Cities From Space" handle received an updated round of polishing (now that I sorta know how to properly polish resin handles). The result is nice and glassy. I can see my reflection in it, so that's cool. It also made Eric's amazing pour pop even more. Extra sparkle and depth for sure after its new polishing! Love this handle... I'm keeping this one for myself!

The new M&M Soap "Pisgah" also arrived yesterday in the mailbox. It was a highly anticipated release since it may be the last Bear Tallow offering from M&M. I don't like to think of myself as someone who chases soap bases down rabbit holes, but I did try the bear tallow base from M&M in the past and it always impressed me as the best performing soap you can buy from an artisan soap maker. The scent is enjoyable, yet hard to explain. I think its a scent that nearly everyone would like. It's very clean with a mellow bergamot, cedarwood, etc. As expected the performance was killer. The best part about this soap is the post shave feel. I honestly felt like I didn't need to use aftershave at all. Plus, its just cool to use bear tallow to shave with. Chics dig it!

What a great post and writeup Paul!  That's a very nice pic to begin with, and the Pisgah label is a real eye-popper.  Very nice!  I look forward to your razor shootouts too.  For me, the Lupo 95 has been rocking my world, accounting for half of my shaves since I got mine a bit over two months ago.  It will be interesting to see what works best for you.
