Soap: Grooming Dept - Maleki (thanks Mike)

Great, fun shave today. First outing with my new brush.

The GD sample was provided by Mike. Scent was very unique and similar to a GD soap I tried years ago, but can’t remember the name! Performance was great. Very slick and amazing post-shave feel.

Spent yesterday messing around with brush handles on the lathe and set these up with knots:

Mike, your figured maple brush will be in the mail tomorrow... by the way, I’m very jealous of your amazing SHD 28mm knot. I can tell this is one of the older ones. The new ones that I’ve purchased and seen from others don’t have such soft, white tops like this!

Wow Paul!  Everything you do is one kind of beautiful or another.  I'm glad I waited to find the right home for the SHD and the right craftsman to make it happen.  Like I said before, I can't wait to get it wet!  --  Many thanks my friend!   Happy  Happy

Razor: Yates w/ Hybrid M Plate and Razorock Halo DLC Handle
Brush: Trotter Handcrafts - 26mm Oumo Knot
Soap: Moon - Union
Aftershave: Ethos - Melange d'Agrumes
Blade: Feather

Wow - a lot to talk about here this morning!

First, the soap. Moon soaps "Union". Neat the graphics on the label... and holy cats, love the scent. Off the puck its quite light, but I get a lot of Basil (up front), Oakmoss, Bergamot, Patchouli and a tiny hint of powder. Basically all this scents you think of in a well rounded "Barbershop" offering. Oh, and there's menthol in it too! Not a lot, but enough to get a nice cooling sensation. As I lathered it, the scent got stronger and more pronounced. Performance was killer.... absolutely killer. A+, darn near perfect, yada yada yada. On the 4th pass it was still thick and foamy-free. Man, I really enjoyed every aspect of using this soap and will be buying more Moon offerings ASAP.

The Ethos splash was also new to me. I've read so much praise about this stuff, I just had to score a bottle and try it myself. Scent is grapefruit (out front and dominate), bergamot, and orange. I really liked the scent. It was clean and refreshing and perfect for a sunny spring day in the NW. Performance? Yep, it's is elite... just as pretty much everyone else has reported. My skin feels great. At $28 for 2 oz, it better be stellar, and I'm happy to report it definitely is!

Have a great day friends.

Due to Enablers great reports like yours, I ordered Ethos Clean. I am still thinking about the matching splash. Big Grin

Razor: ATT SE1
Brush: Brad Sears - Ardley 28mm
Soap: Spearhead Seaforth - Spiced
Aftershave - Ethos -  Melange d'Agrumes
Blade: Feather

Took the Spearhead "Spiced" for its maiden voyage this morning. The scent of "Spiced" is sooo much more interesting than "Heather" (which smells exactly like Gillette canned goo/one-dimensional dusty lavender to me). To say the scent of Spiced is complex would be an understatement. I pickup on cinnamon, spices, fruits, and even a floral accord. Very unique, although its slightly hard not for me to think of a scented candle from the Hallmark store in the mall back in the 80's. But seriously, its a nice scent! I took a big scoop out and palm lathered away with what is arguably my best badger brush (thanks again Dave!). The lather was excellent...  not quite as good as the Moon soap I previously used, but still excellent.

The ATT is probably my favorite SE outta all the various SE's I've tried. Still not much of an SE guy, but hey... I try.

Topped off the shave with the Ethos splash and even added a drop or 2 of the Aroma Blend to see if the scent strength lasted longer. It sorta did, although still faded pretty quick. I also notice Ethos splash has a pretty substantial burn (alcohol?) at first. It's loaded with skin food, so the post shave is awesome, but man... the initial burn hit me hard today. Maybe it was just an extra close shave.

Still an enjoyable experience!
