Hey, it’s my first shave journal! Look at me.

Today, I kick things off by using:

Razor: Razorock BBS
Brush: Brad Sears Arley 25mm
Soap: B&M O’ Delight
Aftershave: B&M O’Delight
Blade: Nacet

Good shave. The BBS is insanely smooth. Probably the smoothest razor I’ve ever owned, yet somehow acceptably efficient.

Brad Sears makes the best brushes I’ve owned. Not sure where or how he gets these knots but they kill pretty much everything else out there IMO... maybe Elite Razor is close, but I still give the nod to Brad. Luxury at its finest on the brush front.

B&M products are kinda a love/hate relationship for me. The soaps and balms are really good, but sometimes I don’t think the soap gives much cushion. Most of his scents are not for me, but there are a few I like. O’ Delight being one of them. The published scent notes are spot on with this one.

Nacets are a solid blade. Better than 90% of the blades I’ve tried.

Oh, and I always do a 4 pass shave with a bunch of touch ups! My stubble is fierce! I usually shave every other day.

Anyways, happy shaves DFS friends! Take care,
Paul

Welcome to the Journal Club! Sounds like a great shave. What is O Delight? I am an unscented soap user due to work and family, and too lazy to search the interweb! Oh, and Welcome to the Journals!  Big Grin

Here are the published scent notes for O' Delight. Personally I think Will at B&M nailed this scent. I can easily smell each item in both the soap & aftershave balm:

O, Delight!, a soap inspired by the rich varieties of Turkish Delight available, and fragranced with real local honey, courtesy of BeeKind Bee Farm, apricot, hazelnut, lemon, and orange flower.

Oh boy, it was a mail call day for me. A bunch of new goodies arrived from WCS.

Of course I had to use the Hub City and Wholly Kaw balm. Both have a sweet sandalwood note and match up nicely.

Hub City has been on my radar for the last month or so. Friday Night Lights is their latest offering and sounded pretty cool.

I can confirm the soap performance and scent are awesome. This company is gonna be a elite level player in the soap game. It has pig tallow and some other excellent ingredients. Lather was super sticky / thick... and slick! Much like A&E.

Off the puck it’s a sweet sandalwood and true to the published scent notes with hints of vanilla and coconut, but after lathering I do detect a smokey camp fire note. My Wife got pretty excited about this one along with the Wholly Kaw Rebelle balm scent which has some depth and complexity. Its like a modern sandalwood! I dig it a lot and the balm also has some nice skin food.

Threw a new Feather blade in my Razorock BBS and man, what a crazy good shave. This is THE blade for this razor!

Brush was This Darn Rob with a 26mm Oumo knot, which happens to be one of my favorites in a pretty large brush collection!

Nice writeup, and it looks like a sweet setup too. Rebelle is such a fav of mine that I bought a second jar, and yet it never occurred to me to pick up the AS or the balm. Well, they are now on my radar. So is Hub City. -- Thanks for the intel.

Great read Paul. Hub City is definitely on my radar and wanting to add 1 or 2 when I decrease my soaps currently some more. This one will be one to seek with the Red Cabin in the Woods. Thanks for the thoughts.
