Stirling Soaps

I know scent is subjective but really showing a lot of love just now for Stirling soaps
Got Piacenza and Sharp Dressed Man and soon to have Executive Man and Barbershop
Thinking of another. - few questions though

Is the Gentleman scent similar to Tabac. Love Tabac but don't want too similar a scent
Also Mountain man and Island man- thoughts on these ones - Is it close to the others I have or distinctive enough to stand out on their own
Predominantly like strong scented soaps
Any advice appreciated

I own Tabac and Stirling Gentleman and the scents are nothing alike. Mountain Man is nothing like Island Man, and again, I have owned both. I am buying the full size of Mountain Man after trying the sample, but Island Man is a miss for me. Out of all that you mentioned my favorite is Executive Man. My top two favorite Stirling soaps are Ozark Mountain and Executive Man. However, I have not tried Sharp Dressed Man yet but will order it next time. A few others I like a lot are Tuscany, Gatlinburg, and MITA.

No, Stirling Gentleman is nothing like Tabac. To me, Tabac is more on the floral spectrum. Gentleman is more has a pleasant scent where I pick up freshness and a little spicyness.

Rod at Stirling described executive to me as some pineapple and smoky.

I don't pick up smoky, though a pleasant and complex scent which does include pineapple.

Like the original poster, I'm a big fan of Stirling. Not only due to the quality of products, but because Rod, ezlovan, is a good man who cares about customer satisfaction.

The fact that he is a vet is a bonus. I send my new shavers to him for their starter kits because I know he'll take care of them.

Good choices! I believe Mountain Man is a cologne dupe, so if you like the other dupes you got (piacenza + SDM) you'll be pleased with it.
I only had island man in bath soap but it seemed like a fresh, neutral, calming scent. Probably not the strong, robust type of scent you're looking for. But hey, theres always samples! Enjoy

I'll also pile on and say that Stirling Gentleman smells nothing like Tabac. It does have good scent strength like Tabac though. Maybe not quite to that level but still nice and strong.

My first tub of Tabac was so strong that I walked in the bathroom and the whole room smelled of Tabac - way to strong for me. I think the Tabac folks have gotten the message that the scent was too strong for many and my most recent Tabac is at a level I like.

My Executive Man and Stirling Gentleman both have just the right amount of scent. A new container left open in the bathroom would not fill the whole room like my first Tabac purchase.

Mountain Man is Stirlings version of Creed's Silver Mountain Water,very nice scent.I haven't used Gentleman so I'm no help there.
One of Rod's new soaps,Arkadia is a fantastic version of Terre d'Hermes,I would highly recommend picking up a sample when you place your order!!

Nothing smells like Tabac. I mean that in a good way. However, if you look at part of the ingredient list for Tabac it looks like this:

CI 77891, Limonene, Hydroxycitronellal, Linalool, Citronellol, Coumarin, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionene, Benzyl Alcohol, Citral, Eugenol

This is a list of aroma chemicals. Typically, artisan soap makers will use fragrance oils and essential oils to create their soap fragrances. Whereas, industrial producers are more likely to use aroma chemicals in a laboratory environment such as those in this list. There are a couple of reasons for this. First, aroma chemicals are generally cheaper than essential oils. Secondly, fragrances can be created that don't necessarily have a direct correlation to scents found in nature.
