I bet if you created a new "Premium" line (with the samw formula) and said its 25 bucks a tub you'd be the best soap eve4. Haha. Just kidding, but i do think people's minds are influenced with the soap price, meaning if it costs more it performs better.

Anyway, super easy to lather, great performing and a good post shave, and plenty of scents to choose from.
Stirling - proving you don't need to pay 5$ per ounce to shave great since 2011 Smile
Just keep doing what you're doing Rod!

First shave with Glastonbury today and what a soap this is. This one uses the mutton tallow base and the scent is grassy/hay patchouli - per Stirling "Patchouli, Lavender, Oakmoss, Lichen, Frankincense, and Vetiver". Performance is on par or (I think) better than soaps costing much more and IMO the scent is great. At $13.50 for 5.8 ounces it's an outstanding value. Finished off with the Glastonbury aftershave splash. Port-au-Prince is up next tomorrow and uses the same mutton tallow base. Thanks ezlovan   Happy2

I'm likely going to keep it as is. Contrary to some opinions, I agree with you and think our base is top shelf. For some I think it's a matter of it being so much cheaper per ounce that there's no way it could be as good. Also, we've been around a while (2011). We're not the new shiny thing. The big thing though is we've done a poor job of consumer education. We don't use chelating agents, detergents, or coconut oil in our soap so it definitely lathers differently than most on the market. Just like any other soap, if you aren't lathering it properly, you're bound to have less than the best results. I am to fix that soon with some video series on our YouTube channel.

Thank you for the compliment. I mean that.

Start putting the soap in a red tub. That'll get some attention. Big Grin I know you understand the whole "next shiny thing" marketing strategy as well as anybody. Stirling is one of the best daily driver soaps on the market. I love that I can get most of my favourites in shaving soap, body soap and now shampoo bar too. I don't like to clash scents. I also like how you picked up Baker Street from the now defunct Stroppe Shoppe - I wonder if there aren't a few more popular fragrances from some of the soap makers gone by that you'd be able to work something on to bring back?

Marko thank you very much. I actually tried to get a few more of the scents from Strop Shoppe, but was unsuccessful. At this point, I'm getting ready to have to make some tough decisions on some of my own scents. There are just more than I have space for anymore.

^This. I've never understood the comments about Stirling soaps being hard to lather. Could be different water types, but I've never had an issue with it at home or traveling.

I've never had any issues lathering Stirling soaps either. As a matter of fact, Stirling was one of my go to soaps when I was new to wet-shaving because it was easy to lather.

The key to any shaving soap is knowing how to create a quality lather. Some soaps are more finicky than others and some almost lather themselves. But even the trickiest soaps are considered easy latherers to those who use them on a regular basis. I feel more often than not when someone complains about a soap's lather it's likely the latherer and not the soap that's at fault. I can think of many top performing soaps that have some reviews bashing the performance, which to me is obvious the person didn't know how to lather it. I suppose hard water may be the problem for some, but I've also seen people take the hardest waters in the country and lather the supposed most picky soaps of all without issue. Go figure. Anyway, Stirling is not a soap I would consider hard to lather. It's actually one of the few soaps I recommend for newcomers.

Rod, I hope you give us fans some time to stock up on possible favorites before giving them the axe… (That being said, I do understand the dilemma; the selection you carry is more than impressive — it’s downright staggering.)

Hobbyist, great points on lathering. I, too, find Stirling to be utterly dependable in that aspect.

I agree with what you say 100% iShave! I just like to mention that the aftershave splash is also awesome and so are his prices! That's why stirlings is #1 in my den for the past 3 years. They are simply very hard to beat in performance, quality, ingredients, selection, and prices!!!

Thank you Rod for keeping the shave soap formula as is! It's my #1 soap for the past 3 years and I think its excellent. The soap hits a home run in every department such as cushion-glide-ease of lather-slickness galore-quality ingredients-post shave-and its even affordable! In other words your soap is a GRAND SLAM and a World Series contender with soaps that cost twice as much and even three times more than yours. I think you hit the nail on the head about consumer education. If the consumers really catch on to the quality & value of your products then the sales should go thru the roof as should be. I happily caught on three years ago. I thank you again for the quality & value products stirling delivers!

Whoot, I just got my deodorant, and can’t wait to try them out. I got a few smells, and I got “witchy women” for my wife. I also got a new Li’l Brudder shaving brush, because my wife stole my other one. Can’t wait to try them out.

I really hope the deodorant works well for you.
