That's great news. Question though. Are you still considering offering the razor with both base plates as a kit or will they be offered separately? Thanks in advance....

I will likely offer both as a kit from the start.

I really can’t WAIT for this one!! Any update on time frame?

Will the heads be available independently?

Mark, it wouldn't be less expensive. The reason that stainless heads cost more is that stainless is so much harder than the Zamack used in other razors. Due to the hardness, everything about working with it is more expensive.

Another poster commented that at $100ish this razor costs twice that of another competitor. A definite difference is that Stirling's razor is made in America with American steel. This benefits the customer as supply chains are shorter and they can be more reactive. Also, American made steel used for this kind of thing is very high quality as less expensive manufacturing is no longer done here.

I couldn't agree more Andrew. The artisan market is so crowded that we pivoted and moved to cartridge conversion, thus all of our customers are new to single blade shaving. I don't know this for a fact, though I'm pretty sure the razor head we are using is the same as Maggard's aggressive V3A head. We've had no trouble getting new shavers up and running with it.

There are razors out there that aren't good for novices but I think that they probably aren't good for anyone else either.  I'm still having PTSD flashbacks to that Merkur?? whatever it was razor I tried to start off with.  So called aggressive razors force you, whether your a novice or an expert, to pay attention to preparation and technique and that's not a bad thing.  I'm finding with the Rockwell 6s its so forgiving in the 1-4 plates that I get sloppy with my technique and I suffer a little when I use a different razor.

Any more new updates on the Stirling SS razor ezlovan  concerning potential release? Close, still a bit aways? Will there be optional finishes available for the choosing? Complete razor kit still the only option or could there be potential for a la carte ordering? A lot of questions and I'm sorry for that but, this razor has many intrigued and the obvious potential it may have in being another alternative for a high quality razor at a competitive price. Thanks in advance....

Yeah, I’m very interested in an update as I have been spending like crazy between the new General, new Paradigm, Haircut & Shave No75 all stainless and the Carbon Shaving. Not to mention the new brushes. I am selling off stuff that is not in use to make room for all of this new stuff and the Stirling is a must have from what I have seen and read about.

How would you compare the H&S to the carbon?

GlazedBoker I should have a better idea by the end of next week. I'm really working to get the machinist to pick up the paces. I've got six handles of various finish levels in front of me today . What is likely going to happen, is that we will offer a completely unpolished level (other than normal buffing to remove burrs), which should be in the $100 range and it will only come with our standard handle options, as the art-deco handles have too aggressive of a knurling to be used with out quite a bit of buffing to take the bite away. We'll also have an Electro-polished version (maybe not in the first round) that will also use the standard handles. The 316L handles (Fort Worth, Dallas, and Austin) will only be available in the manually polished version that will be hand polished up to a mirror finish, and will include laser etching of serial numbers and designs on the side of the base plate. That's been the real hold up so far. Well, that and deciding on packaging. As these are high end items, the packaging should be in line with that so we're furiously trying to find something that meets that need without adding a huge cost to production. I'd hoped to be ready to release them by 1 October, but that's not going to be feasible. It's okay though. I'd rather folks be mad that an amazing razor took a little longer than to have them mad that we put a mediocre razor out too soon.
