It finally arrived after months of waiting. This was a Kickstarter project started by Oceanbrass (Boston). This was not the first project that they started as they sell at least a dozen brass items on their website. It is really beautifully finished and it appears they have some type of clear finish but I am not positive. I will take it for its maiden voyage tomorrow morning. This is some kind of Gillette type design maybe a NEW not sure. If the shave is too mild for me off to BST it goes. It also came with a brass buckle and head case.

I will definitely be watching. Looks like they did a wonderful job. Very striking. I don't like OC razors, but if it's Mild enough, the look alone could push me to try it.

First shave this morning. First off the ring attached to the bottom of the handle is slightly annoying while shaving as it clings around. However, not the worst thing in the world. Its purpose is to hang on to a hook if your on a boat. Oceanbrass line of brass products has a nautical theme.

On to the shave. I used a Voskhod Teflon blade, Martin De Candre original soap and a Maggard 2 band. Because its an open comb there is some blade feel. The blade reveal is very slight but it shaves. I did two passes and some touch up and the result was fairly satisfying. I will see how long the smoothness of my face and neck lasts. The razor is very well made with no machine marks. The whole razor must have a clear coat so I expect any patina to take a while to appear. The handle is 90 mm long and paper thin but the grip is no issue. Next shave I am removing the buckle which unscrews. The head is definitely a Gillette copy but I am no good at dating so I will leave that to the experts.

Out of 2000 or so razors produced in the first run I am around 1600 hundred. This is my one and only Kickstarter purchase. Now they are for sale at $100 which is a good price for all brass. If you like a good shave without fear of an accident you will love this razor. If you like aggressive and a lot of blade feel don't bother. Move on.

Shave #2

It was excellent. I removed the annoying buckle and it lowered the razor weight to 2.8 oz. I continued to use the Voskhod Teflon blade but added Captain's Choice lime shave cream. The brush was a Yaqi 2 band. My usual two pass shave with slight touch up. I can describe it as wonderful. The open comb and positive blade feel is perfect. My evaluation of the rating is 5,6/10 (aggressiveness). I would also say the closeness from yesterday to this morning lasted about 15 hours. My razor came with the head cover and 2 blades but that was a bonus offered through Kickstarter. The way razors are priced today I would say $100 is more then fair through Oceanbrass.

Did you only use the Voskhod blade with this razor?
