I'm done with TSN. This thread helped me.

Then move on stop fanning the flames.

It's degrading to the thread....

I don't see how this helps either. Just sayin. I know you guys all want to come in and defend the indefensible but piling on after I've tapped out is cowardly.

Ya'll are on a mission. Hopefully the mods see that. Leave me be now please.

I've never followed soap and/or scent discussions very much, but in the realms of shaving-brush and razor handles, it has seemed to me that outrage is often somewhat selective and possibly based more on whose ox is being gored by whom than the act of copying in itself. Just my impression, though.

Example?
No, I'm not going to call out names. I didn't have any in mind when I posted. It's just been an observation. I think a lot of what goes down on the boards is reflective of allegiances that exist for various reasons.

Soap maker A makes a knockoff scent and is praised on forum A and ridiculed on forum B

Soap maker B makes a knockoff scent and is praised on forum B and ridiculed on forum A

It happens all the time and not just with soaps. Depending on who the maker of the product is and what forum you are on, will depending on how they are perceived.

Welcome to DFS, Chris. I kinda feel like my post kicked off a lot of madness over there in the thread you mentioned, which obviously wasn't what I intended, but must admit has happened more than once, which is why I limit participation there.

Hope you can enjoy a new home over here, and we're glad to have ya.

Ok, well I pretty much dislike vendors/"creators" who try to make a buck off the work of another. Stork copied a Wolfman design. Some may have freaked out by virtue of pure allegiance. My reaction was split between admiration for James' work and the fact that a blatant ripoff was garnering so much praise. I am guilty of having allegiances to those who exhibit originality in their work, and I gore those peddling Aventus knockoffs, with regular consistency.

For what it's worth, your brand has certainly been one of the biggest beneficiaries of the allegiance of many... Why do you think this is the case?

You seem to be personalizing this. I would rather not.

I'm not personalizing anything. I'm trying to get to the heart of the matter when it comes to having an allegiance to a product.

Please note that I didn't say anything to suggest that brand loyalties are, in themselves, bad. Sometimes, however, brand loyalties can turn into something else that biases and distorts perspective. That is not something we seek to promote.

My first reply to your post above really wasn't about you. It just offered an opportunity to make a general point that I've had in mind for some time. This seemed like a fitting place.

I ask again, what specific examples can you cite? I think the allegiances, in many cases, are not borne out of what you suggest.
