Can anyone that has knowledge of both give a comparison of these two razor heads in terms of aggression, smoothness, efficiency etc... I know that you can't go by blade gap measurements alone as the indicator. Thanks DFS

In my opinion the ATT R baseplate would be similar to a standard gap Wolfman.

I have a standard gap Wolfman and an ATT open comb razor that I originally got with the R2 base plate. I found the R2 to be too aggressive for me and got an M2 plate which is still very aggressive but tolerable. I would say that the ATT M2 base plate is comparable to the Wolfman standard gap - maybe the Wolfman is a bit more aggressive but not as aggressive as the R2 plate. I know this is very subjective and I'm not sure if I would have the same experience with the closed comb baseplates.

Thanks for the helpful responses. Looking forward to what others have to say as well. I find the ATT R2 to be a fairly aggressive razor. It mows down my typical 3 day growth on the first pass. It has left me on occasion with some irritation though. Hearing that the .61 Wolfman will come in a notch or two less in the aggression area compared the the R2 but still efficient is great news.

Wolfman .61 OC has arrived and it's maiden voyage is tomorrow. I'll post an update as to how it went but also offer some comparison to the ATT R2.

I'm pretty used to the weight that comes along with stainless razors and I have a couple of ATTs in the rotation right now. If anything to me the Wolfman seems a little lighter than the Atlas R2 I have although I have not weighed them. The Wolfman is definitely a slimmer head profile and I can see the shaving angle may be different as the Wolfman blade has less bend and lays flatter than the ATT. I can say that aesthetically the Wolfman is a mile ahead of the ATT in the fit and finish. I'll find out tomorrow how the shave stacks up.

Having both the Wolfman and the ATT, I agree with your observation on fit and finish. When I opened the ATT and picked it up my first thought was "seriously? This isn't finished" On the positive side, if I ever need a coarse file the handle of the ATT will serve beautifully Smile

Just to update this thread I finally shaved with the new Wolfman OC standard gap on my typical 3 day growth. For me this was the most smooth and efficient shave I have had to date...for either a double or single edge Artist Club razor. I found the razor to be smoother and more efficient than it's comparable open comb ATT R2 counterpart. On my second pass I even tested the razors limits and safety by increasing the speed of my passes to exacerbate what careless mistakes one may make with a razor. I find it amazing how the blade feel of the Wolfman is so solid and stiff compared to the ATT. One razor has its blade clamped down evenly towards its edge and the other is bent into position relying on the tension in the bent blade to create its stiffness. I'm glad that this new razor acquisition has lived up to its hype not just on its fit and finish but in terms of its performance. I don't see myself using my R2 in the near future although my v1 SE2 will still see plenty of action.
