Stainless Steel vs. Titanium

I'm curious to get your perspective on the performance difference in a shave between stainless steel and titanium. What are the benefits and drawbacks of each material vs. the other and why would you prefer one material over the other? Thanks in advance for your insights.

Titanium is my favorite metal. Lighter than SS and has a softer face feel which for me means a more comfortable shave. But it also depends on the design of the razor. If the same razor is made with Ti and SS I would choose Ti all day. But Ti is more expensive

I lean the opposite direction. I prefer the weight of SS. It gives me a closer shave with less effort. Ti is too light and tends to be more expensive (not always, but this is generally true). I believe Ti is also more resistant to corrosion, but I don't think it makes much of a difference when your comparing a good SS razor and a Ti one. This might matter for some applications, but either will stand the test of time if used for shaving and taken care of. I really think it's a matter of personal preference. There are lots of great Ti and SS razors out there now.

As slowly progressive arm tremor and weakness continue, I find that lighter titanium razors are easier for me handle. However, I still get slightly smoother, closer shaves with top-quality stainless steel razors.

As has been mentioned, titanium is lighter. Whether that is a plus or a minus depends on user preference. From the razor maker's perspective, titanium is harder to mill.
Also, the appearance is different. Titanium doesn't have the luster of stainless. Consequently, it can appear almost gray as opposed to silver. Obviously, it is more expensive.

Many Gillette vintage razors fall into the 50-80gm category....Ti gets you in there comfortably,
but with previously uncharted levels of smoothness and efficiency. I wouldn't say Ti is essential
but if budget allows, it is a real treat to hold, admire and wield.

If anything, I prefer a stainless head for more feel, and a titanium handle for lightness and better control.

However, truth told, prefer the heft of SS as it provides a better shave for my face and beard. There are also other materials and finishes you have not addressed worth investigsting

A match some of my stainless steel razor heads with a titanium handle. I guess I'm not sensitive to the whole balance thing and prefer the weight of that combination for some reason.
   I'm wondering what kind of titanium handle a guy could use for a carbon stainless steel head I believe they're 10-32 standard threads versus the metric of most. Somebody can correct me if that's not right feel free to. Any thoughts on a titanium handle like that?
