Stainless Lupo are up if interested!

IB has some Stainless Lupos up for those interested.

I know; I ordered one.  I’ve been waiting patiently since September.  Missed out on a couple of prior releases. I ordered at 4:00 PM yesterday. They were out of stock four hours later.

Were they plain stainless or DLC coated? I have a DLC and would like to have an uncoated one.

I think the Lupo is maybe the best shaving tool I've used.  I have the aluminum version and the DLC stainless.  The aluminum feels weird at first because it's so light it reminds me of a plastic disposable Bic.  But the shave is the same as the steel version, which is excellent.  The feel of the two is the only difference.  I tried putting the handle from the steel version on the aluminum head, but didn't like that combination.  It was all handle.  I tried a titanium halo handle off a RazoRock Mamba and really like that that.  There's not a thing wrong with the aluminum Lupo.

When I first got the DLC stainless I wasn't impressed with the look or feel of the coating.  I'd had the aluminum version for a few weeks before getting the steel one, and the feel of the two was about at opposite extremes.  If the aluminum felt like a plastic disposable, the steel felt like sledgehammer.  But shaving with it was familiar having used the aluminum, and after a couple of shaves to get used to the weight, I started to think I didn't need any other razors.

The DLC coating is kind of odd to me.  It has an almost greenish tinge to it like the patina on old bronze.  The texture is also different from anything else I've used.  I have a Muhle Rocca Jet that supposedly has a DLC coating, and it's jet black and almost as smooth as bare metal.  The Lupo has a coarser texture that I wasn't expecting.  All that said though, after getting used to it, I appreciate the texture.  It makes for an excellent grip.  I like the handle shape too.  It looks like a direct copy of the Charcoal Goods bishop handles, which I also have and like.  But the main thing is the shave.  The Lupo will give me as close a shave as I want with minimal irritation and blood loss without having to be excessively careful.  It's a Cadillac ride after four years of using an R41 almost exclusively.

The short answer to your question is I like the DLC after getting used to its texture and odd color, and I'll never get rid of this razor because of the shave.  But just out of curiosity, I'd like to have a steel Lupo in bare metal.  And as long as I'm making wishes, I might as well go ahead and wish for one in bare titanium too!  I think it might be the perfect weight for my taste.  I'm still puzzled as to the need for DLC coating on a chunk of stainless steel that's only wet in a bathroom environment for a short time and not exposed to harsh chemicals.  Oh well.  It makes for a nice grip, and it looks kind of cool after you get used to it.

I decided to bite. Waiting to see how it fairs. Been getting bit more by RAD lately. Guess that happens when you tap out our options for SBAD. Lol

I’d LOOOOOVE to see a stainless steel version of this without the DLC coating. Brush or bead blasted would be PERFECT. I’ve been using mine and it looks like the DLC coating is rubbing off a bit and will eventually rub off completely on areas that frequently meet my skin.
