I enjoy following the SOTD thread here at DFS.  I like to see what everyone is enjoying in their daily shave.  I share my SOTD shots, because I like to think that some of the other members here who participate in the SOTD threads are curious about what I am enjoying in my shaves.

I only take my SOTD's in my bathroom with my cell phone camera.  So, my shots are not as well planned out or artistic as some of the other members here, but I still like to share.

celestino , I really enjoy your SOTD photography as well.  It always seems so creative, well thought out, and tastefully done!

There is definitely some phenomenal photography being displayed here on DFS (in addition to some brilliant shaving equipment), and Andrew has been posting some of the members’ fine shots on Damn Fine Shave’s Instagram account lately. In fact, one of the reasons I joined DFS was that there were so many amazing photos, I knew I wanted to keep seeing more.

Personally, I think the reasons for posting Shave of the Day shots can vary from one occasion to the next. Sometimes it can be to connect with other members, either through just a photo or through sharing an experience. Other times it can be a way to display new or rare shaving-related items. Or it can be because of the photography and composition skills involved. And probably many other reasons. Maybe even no reason at all!

But I enjoy looking at those photos, whatever the reason behind them, so keep it up, friends!

Whenever I go to shave, I assume there’s someone else on the planet shaving, so I say “I’m gonna go shave, too.”

I like the SOTD. I find the pictures oddly soothing, like a moment of mindfulness. I appreciate the time and effort that the posters have put into the staging of the shot. They obviously enjoy doing it and I enjoy looking at the pictures.

Bragging or not I enjoy them... even when all high end items. It's nice to see peoples collections as well. After all, we have all this junk lying around, would the hobby be nearly as fun if you couldn't show anyone at all? I am too lazy to take SOTD pics but I'm glad others aren't.

I love looking at SOTD pics. Some of the photography is stunning, and it doesn't have to be a pic of expensive gear to be great. On the other side, some of the gear is stunning. I love brushes. All of them. I have fun looking at the choices people make, or where their tastes run. I have never gotten a bragging vibe from people putting these photos up; just a sense that they like to share something that makes them happy.

I don't have a lot of time to set up pics, so most of them are taken right in my bathroom with my phone. When I have time later in the evenings I try to edit/dress them up a bit just to MAYBE keep them interesting for somebody else.

I am, like others, impressed with the photography and dont have such intensity available to me. Partly because of time and scenery but mostly because i lack the photographic skill.

I enjoy seeing others arrangements and equipment and while I am sure some intend to brag, I think that's okay too. I don't believe I have any kit considered drool worthy but on the very few occasions I have posted, even just with my phone, it's to show allegiance to the concept of sharing this hobby and taking part.
If anything I need to do it more.

I think of posting my SOTD as an enjoying part of the shaving ritual. I usually don't take time to post though.

My camera is the one in my iPhone 5S. I enjoy seeing what others are using as well.

I enjoy all aspects of the SOTD threads. I enjoy the photography (all types) and enjoy a brief commentary on the products, how they worked (or didn't) and whether the shave was a home run or a strikeout.

This is a good read and interesting topic. I happen to enjoy shaving and photography, so it's the best of both worlds for me. I can appreciate the time and care involed in staging a beautiful shot, but can agree that sometimes it looks unrealistic. I started incorporating actual shaving shots to help tell the story and hopefully add a new perspective. And the end of the day...It's fun for me.
