I enjoy seeing what others are using as stated. I rarely consider any SOTD images as bragging and more along the lines of sharing new or favorite things.

I also enjoy photography however hardly ever have the time or inclination to put much effort into the SOTD images I personally post to be honest. iPhone in the morning and off to the office.

I would say that studio shots in particularly I find personally difficult to pull off well and to those that put thought into composition, balanced lighting etc. I very much enjoy seeing your work.

The environmental shots are most often amazing from those that contribute as well.

I also find the SOTD images to be a nice and often inadvertent view into the lives and interpretations of our community as another enjoyable aspect.

If you don't consider shave of the day photos to be bragging. Take an inventory of the items used for a month on any single forum.

Youll be surprised that less then 15% of the razors aren't stainless or artisan.

For how much people claim to love merkur and muhle and EJ on forums, they in a typical month will constitute less total photo appearances then the one blade razor.

Same for soaps and brushed.

yes , There is too much bragging. I can't see that well. The print is too small.

In competitive target shooting riflemen keep a 'dope book' listing specific handloads, peepsight settings, wind and even temperature from a shoot. This seemingly GIGO can provide valuable information, and in the case of FORMER .50 Caliber single shot rifle competitors in CALIFORNIA the U.S.Army gleaned invaluable information for it's sniper program using said weapon system ( a former shoot them all action star with a thick austrian accent signed legislation banning said weapons and ammunition in Kaleeforneea.)
I look at these posts in the same way. Every now and then I see a product 'in the flesh' either unknown or known only in vague reference. If I have an interest there is a lot of subtle information available in potential combinations that work for other folks. I don't CARE about any implied motive of boasting or shilling for the Lodgeware cast iron DARWIN replica.
People are having fun. Stop having that and these forums stop.

I like them. If some don't then don't look at them and move on. From my end it has always been a snapshot of whatever on my counter. No skill involved at all believe me.

I like seeing what other people have but some people are over the top ridiculous, for example:
Warm shower for 15 minutes exactly at water temperature of 104 F
Pre-pre shave with skin cream
pre-shave with x pre shave soap
post-pre-shave with pre-shave oil

x shave soap with an unobtainium shaving brush swirled exactly 32 times counterclockwise and then 10 clockwise.
face lathering with 10 counterclock wise and then 32 clockwise
shaving with an unobtainium DE razor with z brand blade used only the first time then stored oriented in the east to west direction

second pass with y brand soap with xx brand scuttle with water exactly at 97 F.

and so on....

I never post SOTD photos, but I do not have a problem whatsoever with those that do. if it annoyed me, I just wouldn't look at them at all.

I worked in photography and it's related industries for many years and while I don't take pictures ( I usually shave in the tub so it's not pretty ) I am quite impressed and somewhat surprised at the professional level of shots I see in a vast majority of the posts.

Some of you guys may have missed your calling.
