Allegheny Instrument Company 5/8 near wedge
Stirling Vanilla Sandalwood splash
I went to the antique shop round the corner form my house where I picked up my Taylor Eye Witness half hollow to see if they had any other razors that could be sharpened and used, and I came across this AWESOME Allegheny Instruments Company 5/8 near wedge. Dull, but clean with no chips or cracks, good scales, and for the low price of only $30...I grabbed it.
Brought it home and put it to the stones and she sharpened up just BEAUTIFULLY! No trouble at all, she took an edge quicker than any other blade in my collection. 30 minutes from setting the bevel to shave-ready, and the kicker...Gave me my finest straight shave to date. The closest I have ever come to BBS with a straight, and exceptionally smooth and comfortable. Just a very few trouble spots where there is a tiny bit of ATG stubble left behind. I didn;t want to ruin the comfort of the shave by chasing the BBS with touchups, so I left it at extremely DFS. I am SO glad I grabbed this razor!!
