I enjoyed one of my favorite scents today, as well as its optimal lather, whipped up by my Brothers Bristles Bronze Shadow brush, and cleared away in two passes by my Futur on six. One little weeper, but no burn from the aftershave. I added some WSP Tobacco balm to smooth my skin even more, and to help with my peeling sunburn.

Prep: Lots of hot water to the face and a smearing of Proraso preshave
Razor: Gillette Tech
Blade: Dorco Platinum ST-301 (1)
Brush: Maggard Razors 24mm Purple Swirl
Lather: Van Yulay Jared
Post: Lucky Tiger then Italian Barber GIT

It's been a long while since I used a Tech. I have spent the past several months with my AS-D2, Super Speed, and Slim. It's nice to return to an old favorite. The Dorco blade seemed a little tuggy in the beginning, but it smoothed out considerably on the second pass.

The soap of choice tonight, Jared, has a wonderful scent and a heartbreaking story behind it. It's named after the late son of Van Yulay's owner. He died this year at what appears to be the age of 16. Heartbreaking. Through the sadness, Van Yulay has created a wonderfully scented soap. I got rich, creamy lather from it very easily, but I just didn't have the slickness I wanted. This is my first use of VY as well as my first soap, that I know of, that has clay. I may need to play around with lather a little more. I have been assured by a very seasoned shaver that VY makes great, slick lather.
