SOTD FRIDAY MORNING, JANUARY 8, 2021

This morning’s shave checked all the boxes. My regular and favorite shave soap is Mitchell’s Wool Fat hands down. My favorite shaving cream is Nancy Boy. Today’s shave featured the Dubl Duck Goldedge 11/16, the Blackland Vector, the Viking Silvertip Badger and Nancy Boy. I obtained this brush on one of the dedicated shave forums as part of a cancer research fundraising effort. As a cancer survivor, I was happy to contribute and have been very happy with its performance. It certainly didn’t disappoint this morning. The brush is both delightfully soft yet possesses tremendous backbone. It delivered the thin slick face lather and the yogurty, thick, protective lather for the dome effortlessly. These two tremendous shaving tools left me feeling clean, refreshed and velveteen smooth.

PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil

CREAM: Nancy Boy Signature
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with Glyce Glycerin soap followed by Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with Nancy Boy Signature After Shave Balm.

My Vector was on loan for a bit and is now back. Difficulty getting the blade off the cap is being handled by Shane who gives amazing customer service. Placed another Proline in as I just miss the shaves too much not to use it while waiting on the replacement cap. I got a smooth and close shave that has me in total comfort, Aaaaahhh. Notes: 

I am experimenting with technique, riding the cap vs. the guard. Riding the cap seems to work well, especially with milder razors. 

Leviathan pairs very well with BM Lavanille. Both nice, dark scents. 

I am also trying to see if I like Gillette Platinums. I have not used them in a while. First use was good.
