SOTD WEDNESDAY MORNING, JANUARY 6, 2021
Up early for some medical stuff! My grandfather used to say, “this aging stuff ain’t for sissies!” He wasn’t kidding! My shave on the other hand was a delight! I grabbed the Genco 35 for today’s shave, and discovered that I hadn’t spent sufficient time refinishing the edge! It didn’t pull or tug, but the mug shave wasn’t as smooth as I’ve gotten used to. This may also be attributable to the shave cream! It definitely isn’t as slick as my regular MWF. The final shave required a fourth XTG pass to achieve the level of smoothness I expect in my mug shaves.
The dome shave featured my SS Supply V2 fitted with a Schick Twinjector, rapidly becoming my favorite of the injector blades. The noggin shave with the Schick twin blade feels almost identical to my shaves with my Shake Sharps equipped with two stacked blades. The two ATG passes yielded the effortless result I’ve come to expect in my dome shaves. I feel refreshed, clean and smoothly velveteen.
RAZOR: Genco 35 (Mug), SS Supply V2 (Dome)
BLADE: Schick Twin Injector
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: Alpha Shaving T-400 Tribute with 26mm Boar Ferrule
CREAM: Mohle Sea Buckthorn
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with Glyce Glycerin Soap followed by Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with Pre de Provence Bergamot & Thyme
