Excellent lather.
This was my first time using Noble Otter and I'm impressed with the thickness and slickness of the lather. This one is right up with the top soaps. The scent was a pleasing leather, which WSP complimented nicely.

Rating: 4.5 / 5

Inaugural shave with my new Blackbird tonight, having received it today. I bought the polished version, in the SB.

Although many hail the Wolfman in part for it’s “reference standard” finish, as far as I can see...the polished BB has to be at least a rival. It IS as pretty as claimed.

I also like ‘em Thor’s Hammer heavy, and the bird meets that too.

Still...I DO want the longer handle if it’s ever made again (and I think it should be)...and the polished stand...when back in stock. To me, a razor belongs in it’s designed stand, and not simply on it side like a screwdriver. If a maker thinks enough of their creation to have provided a fitting means to store, and display, such a marvelous instrument...

And it is.

DEFINITELY more blade feel, and was a wee bit scratchy on three-day growth using a new Gillette Yellow 7 O’Clock (started with a trusty blade as a precaution).

I also went with da Fat, brushed on—instead of bowl-lathered—to ensure extra slickness at the expense of the usual volume. Even had shave gel at the ready, if needed.

Three-passes and NO weepahs!

Even against the grain on the neck!

BUT...I wuz reel careful Wink

It paid off in spades too. Certainly one of the best shaves I’ve ever had. Very happy with the purchase and the result!

Will it be the same on shorter stubble? We’ll see, but I think I’ll gain greater skill and confidence as I learn it’s personality.

And, it has one...

I finished with the alum bloc (no burn), hot and cold water rinse, and, Osage Rub just for the great mentholated goodness (hard to believe that stuff is so cheap!).

Sorry for the lengthy gush, but, I’ve contemplated da Boid for a looong time...

Thanks Shane!

PS—please keep us posted on stands and longer (polished) handles.
