Solid Wednesbay Shave
I went with Krampert's Bay Rum soap and AS today and got a very good shave. It felt amazing as it happened, but I got a few late appearing weepers after I rinsed. I think I did too much touch up. Either way my face is very smooth and the weepers closed quickly.
Prep: Mickey Lee Lime
Soap: Krampert's Finest Acadian Spice Bay Rum
Brush: The Colonel
Razor: '59 Fatboy
Blade: Personna Lab Blue (1)
AS: Krampert's Finest Acadian Spice Bay Rum

PRESHAVE: Face wash with soap and warm/hot water
RAZOR: iKon Deluxe SB w/Bulldog handle
BLADE: Gillette 7 o'clock Yellow (1st try)
SOAP: Soap Commander "Purple" sample (2nd try)
BOWL: VDH
BRUSH: Proraso Omega (model ??) (1st try)
POST: Rinse with warm/hot water to get soap off and then some cold water rinses/splashes and pat try.

Comments: I used the Torrey for the first two passes but seemed to miss quite a bit of the beard so I fired up the iKon Deluxe SB with a fresh 7 o'clock yellow and did a pass plus some touch up and ended up with a DFS with no issues at all! No irritation but one weepers on the neck! The iKon Deluxe is a good and pretty aggressive razor which gets the job done and I like that! Sadly once I get my Wolfman's back, the iKon and ATT's plates will probably will go to new homes as I am getting into a few straights and don't need that many DE's. The blade was very good as it seemed both sharp and smooth so no complaints with it. The brush is also the first use and it seems like an okay brush. I think it is some kind of synthetic but not sure. The tips are soft but the rest is kinda stiff but that it probably cause it is new! I will need more time to test it out. This is the my second time with this soap and I like it alot. It is very good soap, great slick lather and protection. I still have no idea what the scent should be as too me it is weak enough where I cannot make it out. Shave was great today!

Please feel free to leave comments on any items used as I enjoy reading them to see what others say about the gear I am using/trying out! Of course, YMMV!

Thx.

SOTN: 6/24/2015 - "Nothing Gold Can Stay... Except This... This Can Stay... Forever."

Pre: Hot shower & Nivea Creme
Soap: Dr. Jon's Gold Label
Brush: Pavkovich Tulip in White Faux Ivory
Razor: Gillette New Type OC
Blade: Voskhod
Post: Soap Commander "Integrity" ASB & Brut AS

So, I'm going to attempt to make a brush, so I got this Übersoft knot in the mail from Nathan Clark at Envy Shave (on.fb.me/1Jkdwra). He was nice enough to include a sample tin of Dr. Jon's. This is one I haven't tried yet. On first smell, I was intrigued. I'd tried the black label, and it was good, but just a bit too sweet for me.
The Gold Label (available here: bit.ly/1FCnM6i) is another take on tobacco that is much different. It's woody, a bit spicy, a very traditionally manly smell. In fact, this one, to me, almost borders on a Fougère. That's why I paired it with Brut. They paired well (I think).
As for the rest of the shave, it was excellent. Super easy load of the brush, and two easy passes with the OC had me comfortably smooth in a flash.
I thoroughly enjoyed this shave and I'll be calling on Dr. Jon's again soon.

This shave was only ok. Either I got another dud blade, or Personna lab blues are just not as smooth as Voskhod. CB lathered up very easily after sufficient loading as seen in the photo. I added water slowly as needed while building the lather on my face. I used a less aggressive progression today, going 9/7/5, looking for more comfort. It did not work. I still got a couple of weepers and some irritation. The MLB aftershave matches the scent of the soap very well and reminds me of barbershop visits with my Dad.
Prep: Mickey Lee Lime
Soap: Catie's Bubbles LMR
Brush: The Colonel
Razor: '59 Fatboy
Blade: Personna Lab Blue (2)
