The procedure took 4 hours so I had time to kill and drove over to the Biltmore Shopping Center to window-shop and have lunch. It turns out the mall also had Groom Room Barbershop and I stopped in to see what it was like. A fun shop to be sure with a few products and brushes for sale. The owner, Yuri, has collected shaving tools for a long time and creates display boxes for these treasures and they are scattered around the shop. He found it hard to believe I shaved with a straight until I showed him some pictures. Now I haven't had a barbers shave since 1967 and as he takes about the range of services he's shop offers; I found myself settling into the closest chair. We talked shaving and skin care while he gave me my shave for the day (Left Flagstaff for Phoenix at 6:30 unshaven!).

The dog is doing well after his 1st of 2 chemo treatments.

Thanks for the photos and all the best to your four-legged friend. Shy

I got as good a shave as I can give myself and was very relaxing. Yuri has a custom made silver shavette that he used on me, it was hand made for him by a jeweler he knows. It is Yuri's design. This is it:

And this is me getting a shave; no hair cut!

I haven't been to BSC in a while. Guess I need to go and check out Yuri's place. Goods luck to your little fella.

Evening Shave

Like the last 3 shaves I’ve posted this one was made up of left-overs I put away many moons ago for a rainy day. It was the last of the cream and AS. The glyce soap may have one more use, then its history. Slowly but surely I’m beating down my inventory of stuff I don’t use.

Musgo Real Lime Glyce Soap
Merkur 33 Razor
Perma Sharp Blade (1)
Semogue 1460 Boar Brush
Musgo Real Classic Scent Shave Cream
Musgo Real Classic Scent After Shave Splash

I like the pre shave Glyce soap; not sure if it really does anything but it feels nice. I bought it for times when I don’t shower before shaving (which is rare) so as to soften my beard. I just wish it was a little more limey. The basic Merkur 33 is one of the first razors I bought online. I’ve had it for many years. They may be just pot metal but they do the job. The slim handle and light weight makes it easy to maneuver for me. I’ve always had good luck with these Perma Sharp blades. They are smooth and sharp. Since most of the stuff I used for this shave comes from Portugal I drug out the Semogue 1460 boar brush. It’s the small one with the painted wood handle. I got this one years ago when they suddenly become the rage. I think I paid $10 for it. The bristles are a little splayed but it still has plenty of backbone and works great. At one point over the years I heard a couple of people say the paint came off theirs, but it is still all there on mine. The shave cream works well, no weepers or razor burn. The AS splash works well, I can take or leave the scent.

Is this a copy of the Wolfman head by another manufacturer? I know the Stork handle is a variation on the BBS-1 handle.
