Thanks Doug.

Have to confess that I am amazed that this $19 DeFitch Df91 provided a two pass BBS shave with no touchups. Just the 3rd time using this razor and same results each time with 3 different blades. Not to mention Thomas Tew is my favorite summertime scent!

Thanks Guy, good to know. What is the prevailing scent of that soap?

This is from BWW site: "bright blend of Oranges, Blood Oranges, lemons and dark amber all lightly surrounded by Sandalwood for a special blend that will make your senses come alive". My take, bright, citrus scent that leans towards orange but I do pick up lemon and the sweetness is rounded out with a little sandalwood that I pick up. Awesome aroma that I find to be 8-10 strength wise that fills the whole room and the aftershave is just as awesome. Aftershave last around 5 hours for me, but here it is 9 hours since I splashed it on and still can pickup a light scent on the back of my hand. Chris (TSE) his reviews are spot on to how I see products that we both have tried with the exception of one to date and see the video below:

First shave with this brand of blades, that are becoming, in their assorted flavours, increasingly popular over here. Carbon steel made, they say, and they had a reputation for being smooth and efficient. At less than 1€ per 10 blades, I had to try them. So I loaded a fresh one in my Slant this evening and decided that, wary as I was of them, a soap with high levels of slickness and protection was needed, and Martin de Candre Classic was chosen. And, for the sake of good communication, the brush had to be French also, just in case, so my Plisson L'Occitane whipped up a lovely lather pretty quickly, enough for the three passes and confort.

I have really liked these Pakistani blades. Indeed they are smooth. Not the sharpest one out there, but they had no problem whatsoever chopping off my hard whiskers, and cheap as they are, I say they're a good deal even if I get only two good shaves out of them. But it's how mellow they felt on my skin that pleased me the most.

All in all, a really fine, BBS shave, with the superb post shave that MdC is well known for. I still have enough of this sample and a Fougére one to last for six good shaves, but after I finish it off, this soap is first on my list. Then I'll have to seek advice in order to choose what American artisan soap I should get. There's way too many to choose from   Big Grin Wink .
