Strop: Drygulch 45
Brush Handle: B-400 The Brush by Tom
Knot: APShaveCo Tuxedo
Soap: Eufros Jabonman GEA
Post Care: Thayers Witch Hazel
Alum
Osage Rub
Aftershave: Eufros Jabonman GEA balm
Fragrance: Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male

What a luxurious shave this morning. This Eufros is a fantastic soap; great glide, easy lather and a wonderful scent. I had read that the Le Male was a perfect match and it is. One pass with the Supply and two with the Chimera and I ended up with a DFS. I actually was able to go ATG with the Chimera today, a first. Have a great day folks!

Floïd is the most well known of all after shaves splashes that have been manufactured in this country. It has deserved a reputation for being quite effective and leaving a smooth and refreshed skin, but also for having a barbershop-like scent quite suitable for gentlemen the age of my Granddad (and I'm in my 40s) but doubtfully suitable for the present day.

You may like or dislike it, but I haven't used any other splash that lasts this long. After nearly an hour I could still smell it and was getting tired of it  Confused , even though I had applied some Eufros balm when the splash was absorved, so I reached for the Speick bottle in an attempt to dilute the Floïd scent. It helped.
Perhaps you’re already familiar with it, but for a more modern scent from the same manufacturer, try Floïd ”Black”. (This label: https://damnfineshave.com/thread-what-af...#pid132611)

I find it to be a wonderful product with an immensely pleasing scent. My only problem is that the scent is nice & strong for about an hour or so, and then it fades rather quickly. I’d be happy if I could smell Floïd ”Black” all day. Smile

Yes sir, I know Floïd Black, but according to the reviews I've read on it, it seems that it has lost some of its good properties in the process of getting a more modern scent. I might be able to live with that since I use a balm after my splash in most of my shaves, so if I have a chance to take a whiff at it I'll do that. I knew that this traditional version I brought home was gonna be "difficult" but still had to give it a try.

Thanks for the hint, though Wink

I've spent some time defending this "Hybrid Hercules" soap base from Van Yulay because those who haven't tried it often write it off as a low quality melt and pour glycerin soap.  When in reality, it contains goat milk, clay, kokum, and shea butters (among other skin goodies).  Hercules is one of the slickest soaps I own.  It loads as easily as a croap despite its being a firm puck, and results in a dense creamy lather.  Following the shave, my scalp feels like silk.  I'm a bit ashamed to admit that I don't reach for it that often because of its rather bland packaging.  I'm surprised by it every time I use it, though.
