We had some sort of "boar brush fever" and "back to the basics" trend these days in the Spanish forums, and I decided that I could throw my two cents in, I guess. My old Omega 31052 had been sleeping the "sleep of the just" in a drawer, embarrassed at the efficiency shown by my newest acquisitions, namely my Plisson L'Occitane and my two Finest Badger brushes. The above mentioned phenomena made me retrieve her from my cabinet and bowl lather with her yesterday and the day before, for it is well known that boar brushes deliver their best performance when they get frequent use. This one had seen no action in the last two months, at least. Her performance this evening has been good. That's it. Good. It took me twice the time it usually takes me to get the consistency I like in my lather with this boar brush, than it takes me with my badger brushes. This brush is well broken in and the feel on the face is similar to that of a Finest 2 Band brush, good backbone and some scrub, but it's not nearly as efficient whipping up lather. In fact, even though I had been loading the brush for nearly 45 seconds, for the third pass I needed to load the brush again and bowl lather in order to get the required amount of it for the third pass and confort. This wouldn't have happened with my badger or synthetics, with which I don't have that feeling that the brush is stealing my lather. Much on the contrary.
Nevertheless, she paired well with my beloved Cella and both gave me a good Italian shave. Yesterday I had a German one and praised the Speick stick for its good performance. Today, I'll praise (once again) Cella, for its even better performance. It always gives me flawless shaves. It's amazing how a product that costs over here less than 5€ can perform this well in all aspects of its performance. I can even understand those guys who purchase the 1 Kg puck. You never know.
Three pass, BBS, DFS. Have a good day, gents.
