Yesterday my mom asked if I could come for the weekend to help and provide some emotional support as my dad has some health issues. My hastily packed shaving gear includes the "La Sagrada Familia" brush, which is reminiscent of the stained glass in "the Basilica of the Holy Family" in Barcelona. 

The elephant in some of my SOTD photos in the last few weeks was a Christmas gift from my mother, to remember an elephant ride I took with my father on Father's Day 2014. It was no safari; it was a roadside zoo in the Blue Ridge Mountains in central Virginia. Neither my father nor I were really interested in riding the elephant, but my mother was very interested in the photo opportunity. The zoo closed down a year or so later, unfortunately due to poor treatment of the animals.

The photo and the brush remind me of the sacred privilege of serving each other and the blessing of family.
