Aftershave: Moon Soaps Bixby
What a treat. I recently acquired Bixby and have been eagerly waiting to use it and well today is that day.
Bixby by Moon Soaps is unique and complex and well, really good! I used a Moon Soaps shaving soap sample once a little while back and knew right away I had to add an offering of theirs to my shave den. With many great choices to choose from, I went with Bixby for two simple reasons. The Bixby Bridge holds a special place in my heart and because it has a black tea note.
Long story short though, my lady and I have been to the beautiful stretch of California coast where the bridge is located and have spent time in the area. It's a very unique and magical place so I had to get the software named after it right?
I said its scent notes are unique but check this out... Black tea, tonka, smoked vanilla bean, black volcanic sea salt, coastal driftwood, black pepper, Italian bergamot, jasmine, green apple, and musk. Interesting, right? I can pick up on several notes but to describe the overall accord is difficult. I will say that it has a smooth creaminess to it (from the vanilla) that I rather like.
The soap built up into a wonderfully slick lather. I thoroughly recommend this soap base. I then did a three-pass shave with the Dart and earned a sweet bbs shave.
Let me tell you, the aftershave is crazy good! Do not skip it or you will be missing out.
Overall this was another great shave. I'll definitely be looking to add more Moon Soap to my repertoire. I only wish I didn't wait so long.
Take care and enjoy your shaves.
