DFS+, A quick review of "Thomas Tew" soap today. The new plastic tubs feel very strong, and the labeling is very nice. The lather was excellent, no problems at all with cushion, thickness or slickness. The scent was like a citrus blast that filled the den, a great summer scent. Post shave, my face felt moisturized, soft, and smooth. Definitely give Beaver Woodwright soaps a try. Happy shaves![Image: t8jQEsW.jpg]

Bulldog Face Wash & Scrub
Valobra Fougere Shaving Soap
Ever Ready 100T Silvertip Fibre
Ever Ready 1912 (Bakelite) & GEM Stainless (2)
Hot Rinse, Cold Rinse & Alum Wash
Witch Hazel & Selin Toner
Puig Quorum Aftershave & EDT

Face Lathered
Two Pass - WTG & WTG (Slide)

First go with the Valobra soap. I made a couple of test lathers prior to shaving so I knew what I'd be doing with it when it came to shaving. As a soap it's okay. I don't think I'd say it was anything special - it's quite dry and enjoys a good load of water, cushion is okay, slip is okay, protection is okay, post-shave feel is okay. It's okay. The scent is good.

Lovely shave with the 1912. My previous shave was with a 1912 that has had its comb removed (the SEvette) so I was keen to compare with a regular 1912 shave - the regular is smooth, smooth, smooth during the shave and a good post-shave feel. It's close. The SEvette is also smooth, quite eerily so, less noise and very close. Closer than the regular, that's for sure.

Comments:  Today I tried to use the Torrey for the whole shave but I just couldn't get the rough areas like jawline, chin and upper lip close enough.  I did fine with the neck area though!  I used the Wolfman razor for a cleanup pass in those areas listed earlier!  No weeper or irritation today and I ended up with a DFS shave but not BBS.  I also had no issues with the Soap Commander as usual, as it is very good soap. The soap lathers easily and gives me very good protection throughout the shave.  I don't think I had my lather as good as it needed to be for the straight part of the shave.  I know that could have been better and in return I might have been able to get the DFS shave including the rough areas better with just the straight and therefore not needed the Wolfman to clean it up!  All in all, it was a very good shave today but could have been better!

Please feel free to leave comments on any items used as I enjoy reading them to see what others say about the gear I am using/trying out! Of course, YMMV!

Thx.

Super slick with great cushion. This fantastic combination means Bufflehead Soap Co should be on your short list.

How old is that bottle of AV?! When I was 14 (24 years ago), my brother and I each received that same bottle in our Christmas stockings. If I knew then what I know now, I would have held on to that nice glass bottle with the icecap blue lid. My cap cracked just like yours. I remember wrapping it in electrical tape to prevent it from leaking. Ah, memories! Today's plastic AV containers have no character.

I'm not sure how old it is jam62377. I bought it off another traditional shaver about a year ago. It is so much nicer than the current plastic bottles, & yes, I would love to have an uncracked top.
