The Shaggy Dog Story...

I thought I would revisit my Fendrihan Full-Stainless Closed/Open Comb (Mk I) Razor. I stopped using it regularly about two years ago because I started to favour much milder razors. Also, the fillet at the base of the screw on the cap is a wee bit too big (diameter), so it would occasionally cause a chip to come out of the middle of the blade, like this one:

It took me months to figure out why that was happening. If I wasn't in the habit of deliberately flipping the blade between each use it probably would not happen, being flexed out of shape only once instead of repeatedly back and forth.
But I digress.

So, since I was on my 12th and last use of a Gillette Silver Blue blade I thought I'd give it another try. I made a point of torquing the head down with a bit more force than usual since I knew that the blade might not sit properly in the cap.
Then the fingers holding the head slipped, the head turned, and this happened:

I got out a 3M NexCare waterproof bandage (because I planned to go ahead with a prep shower), got it out of the paper wrapper, but then decided to document this for posterity and the edification of my fellow shavers. I managed to get this shot and mopped up most of the blood, but then I could not find the already-opened bandage. I'd spend several minutes looking all over for it and finally found it safely wedged between the pinky and ring fingers of my left hand - camouflaged by the toilet paper seen here in the photo.
Mad Senior moment.
By then I had to rinse the blood off again, and at this point I discovered that my middle finger had also sustained a smaller cut, visible in the photo.

That was when I decided that all of this was a sign to tell me not to shave tonight.
I got the two bandages on, got dressed, and went downstairs.

You would think I had learned my lesson when nearly the same thing happened a few years ago when I was adjusting my QShave Futur clone.

You really must get a little wooden carriage mount for that razor.
When I bought the Black Ship Grooming 32-pounder handle back in July 22021, BSG was out of stock on the cannon stand and now BSG no longer offers the stand on their site. Maybe after the holidays, I do a little research on a possible stand.
