Hello everyone! Hope you had a pleasant evening.
Great shave with which to kick off the workweek. Returned to Saponificio Varesino and their excellent "70th Anniversary" soap & ASL. Fantastic scent and phenomenal lather built with the SV Manchurian badger brush for two passes (plus touch-up) with the Gillette Aristocrat, and I finished with the matching aftershave lotion.
Hope you have a great day.

SHAVES THAT CAN TEACH A LESSON (WITH THE HELP OF ETHOS VANILLA SAFI)
Today I decided to use the La Faulx ++ and a new blade. I had been told that the guarded AC blades were quirky and were really designed with a straight razor in mind. But, did I heed the warnings, NOPE. Did I learn a lesson, YEP. I truly enjoy the La Faulx, not so much the No. 7 razor. I have used the Feather Pro, Pro super, the Kai Mild and the Schick P30. I had an oddball blade of the Feather Pro Guarded and decided to give it a try. I found it tuggy, uncomfortable and took a bit more buffing than I normally do. That said, there is no irritation and the end result was a BBS shave.
The moral of the story is to not be afraid to try a different blade for yourself. It is great to rely on reviews from others, but until you experience the hardware or software yourself, you are doing yourself a disservice. What I learned from this blade is that I won't be buying it anytime soon.
One of the parts of the shave that made everything work well was the Ethos products. This company really has their product at the top tier of software essentials. THE VANILLA SAFI IS OUTSTANDING.
