I contacted procter and gamble. That didn't help. Then i contacted gillette. That did. The myth is busted. They aren't discontinued.

It would be interesting, but probably frustrating to trace the first announcement. Yasha told me in so many words production MAY suspend while they fullfill other orders and the market supply is good. I have a feeling they do some 'Crazy Ivan's' just to see who and what pops up in the legit and illegit markets.

Nice update and info Kav. I do miss those 'Swedes.' Those were wonderful. Gordon turned me on to them.

I received the email at 1 pm on january 26th directly from gillette customer service. Procter and gamble was no help and had never even heard of polsilver, and denied owning them. I showed them that they owned gillette and gillette produces the blades from a factory in russia. Then i gave up and contacted gillette. They knew nothing of polsilver blades either but the customer service rep said he'd get to the bottom of it and get back to me. Which he did, and that amazed me. So this current scare is a seller's tactic to increase sales and profit margins. A fire sale, of sorts..

I'm sorry. The date i gave was incorrect. That was the first message i received. The message they sent me confirming it's bunk and the blades are in full production with no signs of ceasing production anytime in the immediate future arrived 9 days later.

Proctor and Gamble for years had a cool Man in the Moon with Stars logo that some religious persuasion was convinced was satanic. I contacted them once and typically a lot of
customer service hires don't have a clue about their own product, let alone what a Grimoire is. I notice LOTS of Polsilvers on EvilBAY. *Disclaimer* I have many friends in Eastern Europe and Russia, but they are rife with corruption and people doing various cons from at best hustling sales to outright fraud. Sadly, Bulgaria is a nightmare although I, and others
have a few honest contacts. My ongoing strategem is to buy enough blades to last up to my 100 birthday. In 1958 a gypsy caravan camped at the present site of our Aliso Canyon
natural gas fiasco foretold I would be shot by a jealous husband on that date. But hey, who believes a Romanian Roma in California? Maybe I need a few hundred more.

The vendor I came across was in the US but had no sales at all. Was first posting. How would fakes be identified?

Have there been complaints of current production ( blue box five pack) being faked? With continued production safe just buy from a trusted vendor ie WCS who has a generous return policy. Whatever savings are lost is made up with peace of mind and face. You could always request or buy a single five pack.

I just did a quick websearch on fake Polsilvers and the first 'discontinuance' almost 7 years ago. Hindsite is fun and I laughed at many comments and battles royale, especially this guy with his Gomez Addams ikon. Why did I hear the Ungreatfull Dead singing " lately it occured to me, what a long strange trip it's been?" I was going to post SEVERAL LINKS. If you have time, a websearch brings them all up; the good, the bad and the ugly. Polsilvers may, or may not reappear on the market in secure numbers at rational prices. I intended to buy a lifetime stash and things like groceries got in the way. I still hope to. OR, I may take a year to learn how to use a straight. Yea, take THAT P&G, aftermarket vendors in Europe and EBAY counterfeiters in Shanghai- You think that $5.99 genuine cashmere scarf MADE IN SCOTLAND with the glued on Union Jack logo and a 94.8 feedback on your polyester junk fooled me?
I suppose a few straight shavers are thinking ' He will need a strop and stones and a weeks rotation of straights and looking over their unused kit.'
