Sorry didn't see anything recently on this.

So has this been debunked again?  I see no evidence that there is a shortage of the blades.  I have checked quite a few vendors and they are in stock.  I know this website http://www.polsilver-blades.com/ has been brought up as a place to purchase them at a good price but right on the front page they say the end of production is true and it happened in mid-September (6 months ago).

So is this just a scare tactic to get us to purchase more blades? Has anyone not gotten them or gotten fakes?

Thank you and I understand that the vendor is listed as a Merchant here on DFS and not trying to accuse anyone of anything but if they are still in production why does the site still say they are not?

Thank you for any info you have and any info about going through this wholesaler.

churchilllafemme I see in the "What do you have 'Out for Delivery' you posted on 3/7/17 that you ordered some.  Have you gotten tracking info and estimated delivery time yet.  If you don't feel comfortable posting that on here I understand.

Thank you.

All I know is that the site you linked to stated last fall that they would slowly be raising the prices on the blades because of the upcoming lack of availability, and although the prices remained the same for weeks after the announcement, last time I checked, they had indeed raised the prices ever so slightly.

Thank you.

I have a tracking number, but after 10 days it still says "Origin Post is preparing shipment."

I speak on the phone occasionally with a European wet shaving vendor friend who told me he has spoken with people knowledgeable about Procter & Gamble's St. Petersburg (Petersburg Products International) plant. He has recently heard that certain blades are ramped back when they become popular. The theory behind this is P&G's development and marketing is, and will be, centered on modern razors and cartridges. I remember the popular Gillette 'Swedes' and how they disappeared.

Another comment that got me thinking are that the blades are cut from the same steel at the factory and are identical. They are just packaged, priced and marketed differently depending on where they are sold.  I did chuckle in that, personally, I can't tell the difference between the Super Iridiums (present day blades), Astra SP's or the 7 O'Clock Sharp Edge yellows. I do notice a difference with English made vintage English Wilkinson's and the Moscow produced Voskhods, Turkish Derby's for example.

It was a fun conversation without anything being resolved on our end but it does get one thinking that we forum dwellers might be overthinking all of this.

My friend Yasha Tseliskovskaya is married to a production engineer at the St Petersburg plant. The first 'discontinuance of the silver/blue Super Iridiums was merely a disruption in western distribution and repackaging to the current blue five pack from 10 packs. The plant recently took on several contracts for blades and also had a recurring issue with black market sales of 'mislaid' stock and fakes. Sorting out these blades in their many incarantions is like a matrushka doll and the workings of mangement like Churchill's description of the Soviet Union.

It is crazy, but yes, fake razor blades actually exist. (How a business like that could be lucrative is beyond my current comprehension, but since it exists, then it must be.) I would be cautious buying from eBay, yet I cannot offer any detailed advice on how to avoid the fakes.

I’ve also read that the factory in St. Petersburg has taken on some new contracts. One that seems to come up ever so often is that the Bolzano blades will be produced in Russia instead of Germany. I find that a peculiar move, but then again, Super Iridiums used to be produced by Wizamet in Poland, so…

There is a old post online somewhere that did an excelllent expose on the fakes after the first discontinuance and what to look out for. I will try to find it. They blundered badly on the UPC for SI ten packs with a bogus number. Blue/Silver SIs correct UPC is 3014260318024. I have a small unused stash of the brown/gold polish Wizamets which are properly 3014260316242
There were other older variations but now in collectable quantities with rediculous prices.
