this was tonight's shave. the brush pictured is THE sleeper brush of my den. i prefer wildly colored handles, this one is plain white - with lettering that's wearing off, to boot. very bulby knot, and i much prefer fans. so much so, in fact, that i'm looking to trade a jade 2xl in finest for a fan shaped finest 2xl. the knot is a blonde - which can be great knots - and i generally prefer finest. so, this brush has everything going against it.

but, you know what?

every time i use it i makes me laugh because even though it has all these things going "against" it, it's easily one of the brushes i like to use most. how about you guys? what brush (or brushes) do you have that should have been traded/sold off ages ago but keeps earning its place in your rotations?

My Duke 3. Looking at it, just meh, but whenever I use it, I see the charm.

My Polo 10.

I keep saying it's too big when I look at it. When I use it though I absolutely love it!

For me, lately, it’s been my Whipped Dog synthetic 24 mm. There was a period when I really didn’t use it at all. But then I picked it up a while ago, probably because I was “feeling sorry” for it, and now it’s the only brush I want to use, because it’s just ridiculously enjoyable in every aspect that currently matters to me.

Omg me too! I have been using my green whipped dog, two shaves in a row! haha!

It's really my softest brush, even softer than Plisson type because this has been my go-to brush when my skin is feeling extra sensitive.

Nailed it on the head! The Whipped Dog is just incredibly soft. The Stirling “Kong” may be even softer, but in part due to its high loft, which in turn creates some floppiness. The workhorse that is Whipped Dog just — delivers. Happy2

Stirling Kong. It's too damn big to be comfortable for my modest size hands. The loft is too high. It has no panache or character when compared to any of the other brushes I own. But it converts soap into a face full of lather faster than anything in my den.
