I was surprised to read your initial reaction to it, as it has a more aggressive attitude than a classic Schick.

I may have been wearing really dark rose-colored glasses at the time! Dave (Whiterook) in his mini-review stated, "As far as cutting goes, it felt like a Schick against my skin. Which Schick? That's hard, but maybe between a G and an I." I interpreted that as how it shaves, rather than how it feels. And I wanted to love the Asylum right off the bat, and that did affect my thoughts (especially given how much it cost!). I now know that the overly aggressive first shaves were due to the wonky top cap. Once that got sorted, and I put in my preferred blade, things were loads better. But it does not shave as "mildly" as my favorite Types I and G. It does *feel* like them, mild on the skin, no bad blade feel, but it shaves a bit more aggressively such that irritation can result if I over-shave an area or apply too much pressure. I like it a lot and look forward to using it next week. Thanks for the comment, as it did make me pause and go back to see what I wrote and to think about it! Seriously! It helped me recognize that I have done this rose-colored reviewing on first shave before, most notably with the SS Vector. That time it took me months to conclude that no matter how much I wanted to love it, it wasn't a good razor for me.

I guess, like the Vector, you will have to wait for Asylum to come out in titanium Smile Smile Looking forward to reading about your experience next week! AND I hope you still love it!

I've gone back to the Sabre for the last few shaves but used the Wolfman today. I did miss the smaller head of the Sabre but the open comb is very smooth at this gap.

I believe he ate the pear, after the photo was taken... So, technically, that's unobtanium too Dave.
